First in the cave (character creation) and then come the guards and put Dovahkiin in the cart...

Logical Spoiler Theory:

You're a prisoner, tied to a prisoner's cart/carriage being hauled to the location where you're to be executed.
You're tied to the sides along with other prisoners.

I'm sure once you reach Helgen, you'll be pelted with cabbage and other various vegetables.

And then the dragon attacks. During the ruckus- you are freed and you escape...

Into a cave.

The hands-on demo that everyone played starts 30 minutes into the game, to avoid spoiling the intro.

Right...

In the intro for Morrowind, you wake up in first person view on a boat. You haven't picked your character. A fellow prisoner, a dunmer male speaks to you about how you slept through the storm, the guards are coming, you'd best do what they say (something like that). Then a guard directs you to follow him up from the hold, and out into the open air on top of the ship. Another guard says something to you, then you're led onto a dock, where you meet a man who asks you your name and where you're from. At that point, you go into the character creation where you choose your six, race, and face.

I mean like that.

Character creation comes first. How you're supposed to see in the cart the character you have made if you don't have created it yet?

Maybe the game doesn't allow you out of first person view until after your character is created, like in Morrowind. Like I said in an earlier post, you basically went through the whole ship sequence without knowing who you were or what you looked like until you met the man on the docks.

Before they release the blade of the guillotine, a dragon attacks Helgen
