cash shop - what is acceptable?

Post » Mon Feb 17, 2014 7:16 pm

I could forget about something important, but never mind. We do not discuss pre-order, but what would you like to see in cash shop beyond game itself.

If you vote no how would you propose to enable players do these things in game? or just forbid some options.

To clarify: Unique OUTFITS are only outfits without stats, aren't they?

I would love for them to implement a betrayal questline like Everquest 2 used to have if you wanted to switch alliance.

I'm only in favor of alliance and name changes. Similar things have been available in most MMOs for over many years now, along with things like server transfers (obviously not applicable here), so no problem doing that here too.

I'm against most cosmetic options personally. I won't raise hell about them being there but I don't care for them and won't purchase them. In f2p games no problem, makes sense there, but (non-stat) outfits ought to be found within the game. TESO actually does have a few of these already, as quest items, and that's how they should stay. Or they can be found as drops.

there should NOT be a cash shop! period! No to all, im sory i been that road and it nickle and dimed me to death. infact i estimated that the money i spent in mmo's in total would have paid off the HOUSE in FULL!

absolutely NO cashop what so ever!

if its a subscription then there should be everything "EVERYTHING" should be found INGAME only!

IMO, all of these should be in the game. Yes, even name changes. I know that name change is something that MMOs usually put in the shop, but I would rather have a NPC in the game that would make your character sign a contract and pay a fee for the name change.

Changing how a character looks also should be in game, at least for hairstyles.

"Unique outfits" should be achievable in game by high level crafting. It is not less unique than putting it in the store and let everybody with a credit card buy it.

"I bought the game by mistake - want to convert to subs": I didn't understand this.

Change Alliance is a big NO. No, no no no. I really don't want to see this. Same for "Any race - any alliance". It should be a preorder-only perk, forever.

Being Imperial... Well, we know that the upgrade will be offered already. I'm not a fan of this either, but it doesn't bother me as much as everything else.

It has been a while since I looked to see what was up with WoW, but isn't their "alliance change" a full race change, too? I mean you still cannot play as undead on the alliance side right?

If it were something like that, I wouldn't mind too much. I just don't like the idea of breaking down the factions, and even more making people "pay" for it. Seems like a lose/lose, ruin the atmosphere of factions while getting a quick money grab on top of it.

But there will be a cash shop, there is nothing we can do about it. The only thing that might (and that's a BIG might) be open to discussion is what they will be selling in there. And I have also played a couple of games with such a shop and not spend a lot of money there ...

I'm totally fine with them adding SERVICES for extra fee, if they start with cosmetics it's gonna be utter [censored] and nothing more. Heck they already pay walled the imperial, so cosmetics in a cash shop will be nothing to them, and then they add exp boosts etc... Basically a f2p game with a sub......

I hope it won't happen but with what the suits already did to ESO i wouldn't be suprised at all.

For a cash shop I would like to see unique outfits, different furnishings for homes (assuming we will have a home offered), different tattoos, and other such items that have little to no effect on the game. I would also like to see all items offered be achievable by effort put forth in game.

Agreed.

Strongly disagree on second point. I, like nearly everyone else, was never a fan of the restriction anyway. It was a bad decision on several levels.

But offering something this incredible only ever as a pre-order perk would be a supremely bad idea. It means you'd have people considering buying the game in future, seeing they'd missed out on this and could never have it, think to themselves, "How bleeping unfair is that?! Well why bother?". Then close their wallets and move on.

by the way the pool was done with "acceptable" word, it means that negative voices come from more decided voters, while those who accept are not these who really want it but just accept - just a small fix when you want to think about the results (that actually could be predicted).

we can, we can know what we want (by such pools) and then just be more convinced to what people think about it - not to consider everybody who does not agree like separate case.

I don't really mind if they implement a cash shop, as long it's not p2w. If the devs makes more money, we'll have better content, best servers, more updates etc.

I'm an all or nothing type. EIther have no cash shop at all or put everything in there.

I really dislike the 'cosmetics only' acceptance. I don't understand why so many think it's okay for these games to financially exploit me, forcing me to use money on top of my sub to purchase things that I enjoy in the game instead of it simply being available for ingame funds accrued by my character, but it's apparently not okay to exploit other types of players.

It seems they don't care just so long as it's not them being exploited, so I'm happy enough to return the favour and not care when they finally get exploited too.

The difference between cosmetics and other stuff is: Cosmetics don't give you and advantage in-game (especially PvP). Btw, you are not "forced" to use money ... it's up to you if you think this cloak / robe whatever is so nice that you have to have it ...

You have to change perspectives: it's not about you being exploited, it's whether your purchase puts other players at a disadvantage - which cosmetics don't.

The only difference is that I'm being exploited while you are not. Perhaps it's you that needs a difference in perspective.

you know you guys are honestly stressing about the cash shop WAY to much as long as the cash shop doesnt break lore I really dont care what you do with your character or how you play your character.....IF there is a sweet armor set im gonna buy it, if there is a sweet house im gonna buy it if there is a sweet mount im gonna buy it and I really dont care as long as the stuff isnt stupidly overpriced like most cash shops are nowadays, gaming companies think OMG i better charge 20 bux for a mount or else but to be honest the BEST cash shop system I have ever seen is in SWTOR, that cash shop is amazing and their system rocks any other cash shop system out there, it IS a little pricey but its still amazing system

I do not understand this poll, but i think there should be no cash shop if i am paying 15$ a month. maybe for the account stuff ie. server transfer name changes. Cosmetics should be available in game, i shouldnt have to fork out cash on top of my 15 to buy a nice set of social clothing. If they do implement stuff like clothing or dyes in a cash shop i will be very ticked off unless they offer them with tokens, which you earn every month of sub.
