Well, Ive been using Veronica for 15 hours or so and im a Gun's Character so she tends to take all my kills and when i try to kill something she kills them with Pushy.

Ive heard from my friends that Cass is good for long range and short range, I dont want her taking all my kills either.

Who is better for a guns character?

Who is better story wise?

Who is more funny, has better dialogue?

Who is more useful (perks)?

My choice: Veronica

Veronica has the perk of being able to craft without a crafting bench, plus she's a lisbian and so is my character,
and she wipes the floor with everybody, especially if you invest, or loot a Ballistic Fist.

Cass has a two shot, shotgun which she tends to use short range (at least for me) anyway,
and I didn't find her "whiskey rose" perk useful at all.

1. I find Cass is better as she does not rush in and get in the way / die alot.
That and you can see her red hair, and she looks great in that cowgirl southen bell outfit.

2, Veronica, a none biased answer is simply that her quest is longer and deeper.

3. Veronica seems to have more, but I like Cass' more in depth answers.
That and Cass is a foul mouthed daughter o' a gun.

4. Veronica on an EW or big gun character ( str 10, flamers build. ).
Cass in general though, it is of more use to most, and those that like getting top stats.

1 - Take Pushy away from Veronica.
2 - All (human) companions are kill-stealers. Even their default weapons are still very strong they are AI-controlled aimbots who are far quicker/more accurate than you. That's just the way it is in this game.

I prefer companions to be ranged if I'm also ranged, because it means they don't get in my way as much. So Boone, Cass, Raul, Arcade.

Who is better story wise?
Subjective. They all have pretty decent stories/quests, just depends on what kind of chr./story arcs you like?

Who is more funny, has better dialogue?

My votes would be Arcade, Cass, and Raul. I luvs him, but Boone does not talk much and dialogue-wise is not comedic.

Who is more useful (perks)?

Raul, Boone, ED-E, Arcade. imo.

I prefer Veronica, in fact apart from the E-DE, she's my favourite companion. She seems happier than the rest of them, just don't give her dynamite. It could be argued that Cass has a better story but it's a sad one. Her reaction to stimpacks is funny though.

In contrast LC, I prefer my companion to have the opposite skills to me, so as I play mostly with ranged weapons I like a melee companion, if I have someone like Boone he keeps killing things before I've even noticed them.

Definitely Maryanne.

And yeah.. Cass will kill everything you come across (except maybe when she gets thrown across the desert by a Deathclaw).

It's not really a problem since you get XP from her kills EXCEPT if you're trying to get the unique Missile Launcher at Black Mountain and she kills the Super Mutant who's holding it - you probably won't be able to get it. I found this out the hard way.

Veronica. Good story and dialogue, and still wonderful with energy weapons.

Veronica for me. She's at least sarcastically funny about her problems whereas Cass is mean-spirited and bitter.

Why choose either when you can have Raul?

Better dialogue: Sassy Cass all the way
Better perk: Veronica

My choice: Cass.

I think she's great and I love her dialogue. She nails the NCR problems right on the head too. Her quest isn't my favorite but she's a great addition to the group.

Neither, Arcade and Raul are superior.

I like meh women like I like meh beer - dark and bitter! :hubbahubba: So Cass for me.

I also feel that Cass is a bit more well-rounded as a character than Veronica, and she cracks me up constantly ("Schh! We're hunting @!%&heads!").
Whiskey Rose is rather useful too, if you remember to gather it.

If you want to get the kills go with Cass. Not that she does not do her share but with Veronica she gets in my way and one hit kills the people I want to shoot. I end up shooting her in the head alot.

-> Veronica is as you noticed very good in Melee e.g. with Pushy - put her in a Power-Armour and she is - in an RPG sense - a damage dealing Tank. And the best in the Game.

High DPS Energy Weapons or Guns also work on her - Weapons don't degrade on companions so you can use all ammo types without regard.

I always prefer Veronica to Cass - Cass seems wrong somehow - like she wanted but couldn't - don't know.

Veronicas Perk is much more useful then Cass, I don't drink any Alcohol ingame - so no Whisky Rose for me

Playing a guns character, I find Veronica quite useful with her unarmed style. I can snipe people at range without interference and she'll tackle enemies as they get close, taking care of the hand-to-hand business. Yeah, she sometimes gets in the way but you can't have anything. With Pushy/ballistic fist and good armour, she's a beast.

Get Boone. Save ammo. The man goes terminator on The Legion.

When it comes to overall utility cassidy wins by a land slide,veronica is limited in distance response time and forced to get in the kill zone of animals as well as yours.

Yeah, there's no competition. Veronica is useless to me. I hate that robe and hood she wears, so I gave her some power armor but ended up just leaving her at the Lucky 38.

The only thing I have EVER crafted at a workbench in New Vegas is weapon repair kits, and by the time you get Jury Rigging those are pointless. So having a mobile workbench means absolutely nothing to me.

With Cass, you get an extra 3 pts to DT when you drink Whiskey, and she removes the negative effect to intelligence. She also has her own brand of Moonshine that is awesome.

Cass is far more entertaining as well. Veronica acts like a child, and all of her dialog gets really annoying.

If it's between the two, I would pick Cass every single time.

It's true what you say. However I always get sick of his whining and end up shooting him in the face at some point.

The only companion I did not like was Cass, the rest I loved. That is all.

Cass is annoying to get and she ain't very good.
Veronica is annoying as she gets in the wall all the time.
