Casting a fear spell is difficult

Post » Tue Feb 04, 2014 12:47 pm

Hi

I'm at the entrance to the College of Winterhold and paid for a fear spell to demonstrate to gain admission.

I've tried multiple times to aim it at the circular stone on the ground but it doesn't work. In my case the log says cast a fear spell whereas most of the videos on the web refer to a firebolt (guess that's irrelevant).

I go into illusion, highlight the fear spell and then blast the stone but to no avail.

Is this some sort of gltich and is there a workaround?

Many thanks

Simon

You should aim your spell AT Faralda not the ground.

It is different than other spell like firebolt or conjure fire atronach.

I would load back to an earlier save and try again, it's probably just a glitch.

The only spells you aim at Faralda are the healing ones. Go into sneak mode when aiming at the circle on the ground, and aim lower than normal so that the spell hits the circle. Hope that helps.

Thanks for responses but still have a problem.

My first issue was that I'd obviously aimed my spell at the woman so then I got the red meter to kill her! I restarted then bought another spell from her (Firebolt) to use that. Unfortunately, that doesn't show up in spells, shouts, illusion etc. Just fire breath but that's greyed out for some reason (even though I paid for it in gold). I then reverted to using fear, sneaking and aiming at circle but still no response.

Very confused and frustrated.

There is a slight delay in between purchasing the Spell, and when Our characters have the Spell as castable. If You are on PC, adding the Spell by adding the Spelltome to Our characters Inventory is an option.

Reloading a Save can change the required Spell again to something a character is able to cast.
