Castle transmitter problem

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 6:29 pm

I recently ran into a bug where the guy who runs the minutemen radio will not sit down at the radio. He keeps saying that I need to power the transmitter so he can get back to running the radio, or something like that. I have deleted the generator, hooked up a new one, then another one and so forth until I had 4 generators hooked up to it and he still says it needs power before he can start doing the radio. I also made sure the switch was flipped just in case that was the problem, and each time it was in the on position.

I also fast traveled to and from the castle to see if that would fix it, and no dice.

I have no clue what to do, I can't reload an earlier save as I have none. I always delete my autosaves, it's a habit I have (which I will not be doing from now on to avoid situations like this) The only save I have is from hours earlier and loading that save would make me lose ALOT of progress.

I appreciate any help I get, I just want to fix this guy so I can get my radio back up and running!

4 small generators? I've noticed that there's problems with the total value of a certain thing, not really adding up.

I.E... At some point I needed oil, and I had 6/6, but it wouldn't let me build. I needed to make sure it was over 6, because sohow the game counts 5.5 as 6, or whatever (rounds up).

So try making the largest generator which produces 10, and hook that up. From what I have read, you've tried multiple generators, so if you surely have over the required amount, I'm not quite sure :(

Sorry, I should have said I put 4 of the generators that output 10 energy each. I read somewhere that this is apparently a known problem, I'm hoping Bethesda know about this problem so they can patch it out at some point. I haven't done a lot of the story so I'm hoping this doesn't screw me later.

When you are in workbench mode, the lightning icon on the radio tower, it is green? or red?

It's green, it says it has power, it shows the person icon in red still. It says I can assign a person to it, so I tried assigning someone to it in the hopes it will fix the dude, but no dice.

I also tried fast travelling away, it didn't work so I waited for a few hours and the settlers were back to normal but he was still standing there saying the transmitter needed power. Checked the switch, it was green and the transmitter lights are all lit up. So yeah, I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Is the step "Destroy the egg clutches" still incomplete perchance? You can very easily bug that part of the quest, which makes the Minuteman not go sit at the radio transmitter, because he still thinks you're killing egg clutches.

Yeah I killed the mirelurks, killed their eggs and have killed the queen as well, I'm many quests past that point. I have done some research on this problem and apparently my castle may have been attacked while I was gone which is why everyone was bugged. But I did a perimeter sweep and found no enemies, I even went in the water thinking it was mirelurks or something, and nada. Nothing was broken or gone, so it's all speculation at this point.

I am now hours and days in game past when the glitch happened and that dude is still saying the radio transmitter needs power.

It bugged out for me multiple times because I kept killing/looting too many eggs before I cleared the mirelurks out of the courtyard. This caused it to spawn the queen before I'd completed the step "Clear the courtyard", and made it impossible to complete "Destroy the egg clutches" (which is supposed to flag as complete when the queen spawns).

I ended up the same way as you, with no minuteman at the transmitter, a red settler icon on the radio transmitter, and no way to assign anyone to it. But I also had the step "Destroy the egg clutches" marked incomplete.

Thought maybe that was the problem you had, but if your egg clutches step is marked as complete, I dunno, sorry :(

Thanks for the help, I do appreciate it :) I guess we both just have to wait for whatever patch fixes this.

Oh, I solved mine by leaving the dang eggs alone and killing the mirelurks :)

svcks you are so far beyond that quest and can't just reload a prior save.
