Casualty List

Post » Mon Oct 25, 2010 8:58 pm

The forum has been going awhile, and we have undoubtly lost a lot of people. I've personally saw a bunch of my friends on the forum just dissappear one night. I figured this could be almost like a memorial to the people who lost intrest in Fallout a scant year after its release. And maybe it could bring together those who have remained on the forum for the joy of storytelling.

If you knew someone who dropped out of the forum, post their username and why you took notice of them in the first place. You should probably check if someones name is already up. Unless of course this thread becomes too big to make checking practical.

Try using this format:

Mr.BlahBlah- I thought his story *insert story name here* was great. It really inspired.

Oh this is going to be fun. I can just write down my most of my friends list. *Clears throat*

DuckandCover- Don't know why, when I came back. He was gone?

Mr.SmileySmile- Once again, when I came back. He was gone?

NAKUMORA- Don't know guess he just up and left because there was nothing to do?

NYAghost- Just gave up and stopped. Least, that's what I heard.

PsympleJerster- Great RPer, sadly he left because of the RP incidents that were beginning to occur.

Squirlpowers- Another great RPer, sadly left for unknown reasons.

TseyAkan- Best damn RPer I've ever started with. He was here before me, and helped guide me through the RP ropes. Great guy, left because he got bored.

Wolf Murdoch- Wow, he left because he's got a kid! Last I heard, he was busy with that. And had no time for forum stuff?

How could I almost forget, SideWynder0!! Great RPer as well. We made several RPs together, that were a great success. Me and him, were the first two that started up the whole Enclave RPs based which would later become the "Hill Site" series I later continued. He left because he and his girlfriend moved house or something?

All were great in their own ways. Some came before, and after my appearance; but all of them showed some great skill at RPing, and showed that to keep an RP going. You need some SERIOUS interest. I say good luck to them all.

Wow Strangelove I remember some of those. Sadly my memory isn't working right now so I can't think of anyone. Although I would say M'heree but I saw him around a few days ago in Community Discussion.

EDIT: Oh wait, I remember one,

Strive2b- pretty good RPer, although he only made one RP, it was good and well maintained. (You know what I'm talking about wasteland scholar.) Only reason he stated for leaving was that he needed a Hiatus.

I just returned today after being gone for months. I know I rped with you once or twice StrangleLove. You remember me? Then again I mostly stuck to the TES RPs.

Fallout Hero- He's gone because he got bored with everything. And said that stuff wasn't flowing or something like that? Also said that this community wasn't very supportive of the writers etc. but that's him.

Dr. Strangelove- I think it's about time, I start heading out again. Maybe I'll take another 3 month bit of R&R, and then come back? Forum seems to kinda be lagging in inspirational stuff. (So count me as half gone.)

I suppose you ought to add me to that list as well. I mean, I never RPed THAT much, because I've never had the time, but if I may say so myself, all the ones I were on were memorable. But I no longer RP here at all. This forum has lost the flavor it had, I think. For me at least. So now I only drop by to review fanfics, and even then only for names I recognize, or on a whim. So like Strangelove, I'm half-gone.

To contribute, I miss Ribbotson. He isn't still around is he? I haven't seen him. Anyway, for when he joined, he was one of the absolute best up and comers. And now he's disappeared. Such a shame. I'll echo DBAssassin on Strive2b. More promise that went unused.

Also, don't be surprised if this gets closed.

Why?

This is forum life, people come and go, real life intervenes, new interests and games develop and some just get bored with it. One of the reasons for some of the moans and groans is that those who have been playing the RPs have seen and taken part in similar RPs before so look for something new. Without new enthusiastic members the forum will get stale and the "old hands" should encourage them in their efforts to create RPs rather than just dismissing their attempts.

In general there is a great crowd on this forum, some have indeed gone and maybe after a break they will return but let's face it, if it was the same die-hard 10 members here all the time it would get very boring.

Ah, I just figured discussions of members wouldn't be allowed on the fanfiction board.

Its true, it has been rather inactive lately, so much so it has led me to believe that it may be close to...death, but that's just me. I had my run here, my training, my first Rp. Good times, lads, good times...

How do you think I feel, there's only about 5 members from the Oblivion forum, as it was when I joined, left. Still, I quite like you new Fallout guys. You may lose old members, but its important to keep new people interested, or everything falls apart. People only post if they enjoy it.

I almost forgot.

Aest Skystriker- Good Rper, but not really sure why he left. He was in several "Hill Site" series Rp's I made. Good guy.

Well like I said in the beggining, this is supposed to inspire people.

80% of the people mentioned here left because the forum became stale. To be honest, the thing thats keeping me here is almost entirely the fan-fics. I wait and hope for another incredible fan-fic or RP to show up, like Redemption, Defenders of the Wastes, Last Hope For America, and Revenge of the Patriots. Reading those fan-fics gave me a standard to meet when writing my own. I probably wouldn't have written anything figureing my ideas were mediocre if not for those writers.

The power of this forum no longer comes from the game itself. It comes from users like us who tell amazing stories of the world the game showed us. We make the Fallout Universe grow with more adventures, more people, and new enemies.

And when we find a new game that brings out our inspiration, this thread might help those who stood out in this forum for whatever reason to leave their mark before bidding farewell.

How much of that sounded cheesy :P

Maybe 99.99 percent of that sounded cheesy? The 1% that didn't, was probably the part realizing it was cheesy.

I was actually thinking of some new stuff, but probably won't capitalize on it since I'm only "half" here nowadays.

People complain that this forum is svcky (not mentioning any names), but seriously, if it svcks that bad, why are people leaving and not putting it back in its golden age? :meh:

You can't change something, if the people aren't willing to do it themselves. It's like trying to start some kinda club or something like that. You and a friend (maybe) start the club, but if no one joins your club; how are you supposed to get anything done? That's why you can't make the forum return to the "golden age" that it "was" before.

EDIT: Also forgot another two.

Peterbilt2121: Good guy, and left because in the first place because he grew tired. Then he came back and didn't like how things were going around here, so left for good it seems.

Reaper332: Good guy, and good Rper. Left because he got tired of the forums. But I think he's still around, but not lately?

People leave due to real life problems, something a rather large amount of people seem to have, as such they can't spend as much time on the forums, sooo...... they RP less and less, people like RPing with people they know, which is why I left this forum. And yes, in comparison to the TES forums this one svcks hard.

If no one's willing to listen or accept any courteous help, nothing will change.

There is no "golden age". There never was a "golden age", just what you perceive it as.

Non-physical things can't be golden, I'm afraid. Nor silver, or any other element, for that matter.

Perhaps gilded, though. Naw, that would be silly. Seriously though, the way forums like this work is that over the summer there's an influx of new people, especially if a game was just released recently. When that time passes, people leave, and then those that remain call it the golden age, just as people before them called the time before them, and so on.

It's true. But I don't recall naming the time earlier, the "golden age". That was something Zalphon brought here. The rest of us just took it as a better time in the forums "history".
