(when i used to call him my kitchen kritter because hed always walk around there with his back claws clicking on the ground)

He didnt die an entirerly natural death either yesterday morning when i woke up i noticed he peed blood so i thought hed be dead by the time i got home, he wasnt and then we let him live a bit longer thininking he was goinging to bleed out because he wouldnt stop bleeding at about 8:00 pm we finally found a vet nd took him in :cryvaultboy:

my cat has been with us for 20 years and before that he was a stray my mom adopted because its paws were frozen in ice out side her office door when we used to live in hamilton and at that point he was just starting puberty so to me hes more than a cat he was kind of like a brother and now thats hes gone i just cant stop crying

I'm sorry to hear about that. I've never thought I'd grow so close with my pets but I have.

I'm sure you gave him a happy life to live.

I′ve never personally experienced a loss like that but I still give my consolations. Take heart that he got better extra 20 years than he would ever have gotten if your mom had not adopted him and if he had not been taken care of by the family.

I am sorry for your loss. I had a cat who died of natural causes, I know how it feels. I couldn't go down stairs, I had to get the wife to do it, because we knew she wouldn't make it past the nite. My wife said the cat curled up to my work boots and passaed away.

My parents cat also lived past 22 years and passed away. They are part of the family, and is a big loss.

My over 20 year old cat died few years ago too. It is tough at first, but you'll have the happy memories afterwards :)

Sorry to hear that EF, loosing a pet that has been part of the family for that time is always difficult and will be missed.

I love my 2 cats a lot and I couldnt imagine what it would be like losing one of them, so I'm sure it must be tough on you.

Look on the bright side though you got 20 awesome years. Most cats dont live that long even if they're indoor cats.

My cat died on August 18, 2009. I had her for nearly 10 years, I could say I felt like a part of myself died with it. When it was announced she was put down I remained calm, I didn't actually break down until I had to bury her myself the next day. I felt as if I my childhood died and I was burying it. Anyway 1-2 months later I was asleep in bed and I felt a cold chill in my room and I opened my eyes there in from of my face was a small furry cat around the same size as mine. I was really tired at this moment and I could barely move. This cat was looking at me and was literally 1 inch from my face, I could barely see but I was able to tell it was sad and kind of afraid of me. My cat has always been afraid because I used to torment it when I was little. Well during the later years of its life when I was more mature I treated it a lot better but it was still afraid of me. Anyway I know I was fully awake when this cat appeared because when I dream its usually not somewhere in my house and I do not remember it over a year later. When this cat faded away I was able to move again and I was in a cold sweat, I actually kind of felt better after since I was not there when my cat died and I felt very bad for it. I think this was my cat's soul saying goodbye. Anyway here is her virtual grave: http://www.globalpetcemetery.com/pet-memorial.php?id=148

I read most of the title right except replaced cat with car, and I still considered it seriously because I know some people that feel that way about their car.

Sorry bout your cat man.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know what you're going through, though.
I had a cat that had been in the family since 2 years before I was born. When I was 16k, she started showing signs of well..I guess you could call "old age", using the bathroom in places besides the kitty litter box, not recognizing us, etc. It was really weird. She always slept on my chest at night, she'd sneak in my room and jump up on my bed my whole life and sleep with me.
When she died, it felt like I had lost a sister or something.

I'm real sorry for you man. I went through pretty much the same experience beginning of last year. She was about 21, I grew up with that cat.

My condolences. 20 years is a really, really old age for a cat though (especially an outdoor cat) - if that time was spent happy, you did nothing wrong, and I'm sure Kitty would agree. My own furry little pal left after 19 years, two years ago. You'll move on and find something new to cuddle.

That's sad to hear. Sounds like he was a great pet and you guys gave me a really good life. I didn't have my kitty that long - 15 years. Brought her home from a neighbors when I was 8 years old and had her put to sleep when I was 23. When you have one that long they are definitely a member of the family. When I took her to the vet and he said I should put her to sleep it was like a punch in the gut. 23 years old...and I cried like a baby for the rest of that day.

I'm sorry for your loss; I know how much a part of the family that our pets become. My wife and I had to put two of our dogs to sleep in 2002, and it was one of the worst days I've had. There are a few small consolations -- your cat knew he was loved until his final day, and no one can take away your memories.

Maybe when enough time has passed, you can adopt a cat or dog from an animal shelter. Most of our dogs have been rescues.

I would like to beleive that no one can take my memories but theres still that memory losing disease to worry about ... but apart for that I know i will have my memories but every time i remember him i just start crying again

and i guess as some one once said "every cloud has silver lining" I may have lost my best friend but i have aquired an ability ive wanted for a really long time... "the ability to cry at will" before yesterday i was never able to just spout tears ... I miss him soo much :cryvaultboy:

came home early today and for some reason i dont know why i went to check where he used to sleep in a vain attempt that this was some twisted dream and he would still be sleeping there

Reading this news makes me sad with you. I lost a ferret that lived a long life and I cried for days. Pets are like a member of the family.
Best to you in the coming days.
