cater for the hardcoe, the casuals will follow through.

Even friends who I would consider casual players of RPGs had similar complaints with me about Oblivion, such as the level scaling and being able to fast travel anywhere. Putting in level scaling is not catering for everyone, it just annoys everyone.

Anyway, Oblivion was a nice introduction to the genre, no reason to dumb Skyrim down more since almost all people who play Skyrim will have played Oblivion.

Unfortunately, these are moot points because both have already been confirmed by the devs. Although the scaling will be closer to FO3 than Oblivion, according to GI

I very much enjoyed the lack of scaling or reduced scaling in FNV, but there were many complained on the forums about the dangerous areas with high level creatures being some sort of artificial barrier to traveling past those areas. Personally I would like to see some very tough areas where a low level PC has to run for his life. It felt great to get some payback on those cazadores, for example, when I could finally take them out.

well that just dumb on their part. they have almost a million more soldiers than we do. they could have a live fire training war and give their guys real life combat experience and real injuries and casualties to treat and still have lots of soldiers left over. not to mention that more than likely the good soldiers are going to be the ones to survive........at least that is how i would do it. :)
