Nothing says "grim, desperate, devastated world where nobody sane would want to live" like a world without cats.

Though there was possibly a "Noah's Ark" vault experiment somewhere to compare the life of people in a vault with a lot of pets to that of the other, animal-less vaults.

Cats being easy prey? If I tried to kill mine, she'd rip my eyes out.

Compared to hunting down a deathclaw I think most people might reconsider their love for cats.

I think there would be easier ways to get food than trying to catch my cat... Like in Fallout 3, people haven't even eaten all the food from stores so why would they bother to eat their pets?

Actually, I wonder if cats would be better used to CATCH additional food.

I remember my family's cat a few years ago: he'd constantly bring my mom presents of moles, shrews, voles, etc. Tiny critters, but I'm sure that what he brought over, in the long run, was greater in mass than he was. I suppose it depends on how patient one is - a mole a day for several years, or a cat now.

Now, most house cats don't do this because they don't know how to hunt. But I'm sure that in a post-apocalyptic future, they'd learn fast.

so if cats are extinct, why not dogs too? dogs should be even more easier prey then cats..

as usual Beth made an mistake and now modders have to come to the rescue.

and cats go feral in a couple of weeks so they have a good chance of surviving in the wild.

Agreed.

Dogs are scavengers, not hunters, so they would not survive without humans presence. Of course, they can live as stray dogs, but without humans trash, etc they would die. Cats in other hand, can hunt their own food.

My friends cat, brought a rabbit to their door like every week... Kinda creepy, but that cat really payed itself.

Dogs are more useful to humans than cats, hence they weren't all killed.

There was that country in South-East Asia where cat became the latest craze in restaurants. Soon after, plague and famine struck as the rodent population exploded, spreading diseases and rauaging fields. Cats, useless?

In the Fallout world, rodents tend to be bigger than cats.

my cat brings home alot of things, snakes, rabbits, rats, moles, squirrels, and at one time a very angry seagull.
so i rather have my cat with me then a dog in Fallout world.
