Causes Of High Ping?

I have been playing for a few months and havent had many problems connecting to games. I remember when I first bought crysis 2 I would get a Message "you seem to be behind a strict firewall and you may have difficulties accessing games". That message seemed to go away for a while. Since then I have gotten a new ISP and all of a sudden the message came back for a few days then went away. Smooth sailing for a while until yesterday when I installed a router, not only did the message come back but Now all of the servers that anyone is playing on has a ping of exactly 1000. That's approximately 10 or 20 games with a ping of 1000 that I cant connect to succesfully Since then I have tried being wired to the router, deactivating mac filtering, and bypassing it and simplly plugging into the modem. I ran a test on speed test.net and was shown speeds that are pretty standard with my plan, 22mbps dwnspd, 4.8 Upspd 8ms ping (these stats are much less when im using the wireless router.

So IDK what could be causing this I know i'm not doing something right mhere I was just wondering if your knew exactlly what i should check first.
