I mentioned this on another thread but I hope that if this issue with Destruction Magic is sorted I can enjoy my mage. The best line I have heard from a forum member regarding this level-scaling nonsense (WHICH I HATE) is;
"why bother getting stronger?"
This line is perfect, simple, elegant and straight to the point.
So I have 75 in Destruction Magic and Arch-Mage so I am now a big shot apparently...
However I was wandering through the forest.... as Arch-Mages do... and came across I proceeded to use Wall of Flames on the floor which only did about 5% damage to a Cave Bear and then use FIVE dual-cast Firebolts with 50% extra damage perks. Needless to say this is a joke and I should be owning Cave Bears by now.
I don't care about all the excuses but fundamentally why do I both leveling if everything level up the same... I am 30 hours in on my 2nd characters and I feel as though I have made NO PROGRESSION because everything has adjusted to my level. Even the spells and loot in dungeons are almost all dependent on my level. It makes no sense at all. It lacks realism, removes challenge and makes your efforts meaningless.
They surely could have come up with a better idea than level-scaling... perhaps lots of areas for your level and different areas for higher levels. There are so many locations in this game we would still have freedom of choice to some extent. Now we have unrealistic freedom of choice! This makes no sense. No-one in the games enviroment would be able to travel to where the please and overcome the challenges wherein on a whim... you have to be strong enough to face particular challenges. I can now practically go anywhere I like and its all within my capabilites.
THERE IS NO POINT BEING STRONGER.
I felt more strong as a level 10 than I do now as a level 21.
