Cazadors...

Post » Sun Mar 21, 2010 4:52 pm

I carry a fully modded Laser Rifle and some MF Cells just especially for Cazadors. I leave Ronnie on Melee (with Pushy), and just shoot them in the wings, one shot at a time in Vats, until I cripple them. Then, she punches them in the face. I don't know how many in a row we could take like that, but Ima head out to the Brewery to find out!

HP Ammo, Endomolgist, and a Full Auto weapon. Makes them a joke.

Or Brush Gun, Grim Reapers, Endomolgist and SWC Ammo. Drop em all in no time with head shots.

Entomologist is one of the most useless perks in th game. Takng it just to deal with an occasional Cazador or 20 isn't worth it.

I'm in Ohio too, those are mostly midwest bugs, it's too cold up here for them.

I snipe them

It can take a while though to get a decent shot because the bastards move around constantly

But a nice well place shot with a silenced sniper rifle (I don't even think you need AP ammo) should do the trick and hopefully shouldn't alert the other ones that are buzzing around.

I typically carry a Gatling Laser or Laser RCW for these things, or a missile launcher for those characters who will be using conventional weapons. A minigun also works, however you need a 10 STR (or 8 + Weapon Handling) to properly use one.

Sir, General Sir, I would like to report that the minigun is inaccurate enough that strength and skill requirement isn't much of a problem, Sir!

Light Machine Gun. I have a story to go with it. Ahem...

Attempt 1.So I'm out by Beer bootlegging and I go in the building collect what loot's there and head out. Stepping outside I see several red dots moving quickly which makes me angry because I know what's coming. Before I can get my weapon out six cazadores come flying out. Veronica and ED-E get to work and are promptly killed. I get my weapon out and start filling them with lead and then I drop to another group that came from behind.

Attempt 2. This time I prep by pumping some slasher and still get creamed. Though the cazadores started on Gourd this time.

Attempt 3. I pump the slasher and as soon as the cazadores come into view I drink the turbo and take out a group. The cazadores from the other flank just killed gourd and are preparing to hit me. I take a hit pop some antivenom and use another turbo. Now a third group comes up which costs me my last turbo but I finish them off. Problem is Veronica's health is dropping so I giver her a stim...WHICH KILLS HER due to some stupid bug.

Attempt 4. I manage to kill all the bees and send Veronica back to the Lucky 38 so she doesn't die.

Anyway I used at least 350 rounds and their were around 16 dead cazadores. Even deathclaws weren't this difficult.

HP ammo with an LMG (one of the few cases where this weapon is actually worth anything!) or another automatic is useful. although, I personally like using the Dinner Bell with slugs. It can be accurate from a far, and don't listen to the guy who said it has a high AP cost. It can kill Cazadors with one or two headshots. If you have Grip Reaper's Sprint, which replenishes 20 per kill, you can spam the Dinner Bell quite well (it has an AP cost of 25).

The thing that bugs me (pun intended) is that http://www.eversostrange.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/TarantulaHawk.jpg.

Could you imagine, playing New Vegas, fighting Cazadores, not knowing they're real, then going out and seeing one of those sitting on a tree or something?

hircine 21 its not a bug. She probably got stung so many times that your 1 stim was like taking a pee in the ocean. They need to let u give them anti venom or they need to use it themselves. I ve had them die almost 1min later, because they only use buffout and think they re cool. When the buffout runs out they just drop dead. Ive pumped 25 stims into followers after they get slapped by cazadors. It would be so much better it they could take antivenom.

There is a bug with companions getting poisoned - if you use a stimpak on them while the poison is still affecting them, it dumps the full load of poison on them at once and often makes them die as a result. This was introduced with one of the recent patches, and hopefully will be fixed on the next patch.

In the meantime, I installed a mod that's supposed to work around this, and also allow them to use antivenom. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet (took a little detour from NV to play the original Fallout), but I'll try it out soon.

They're indigenous to South and Central America - the US southwest is the northernmost limit of their range. They're also supposed to be fairly docile unless provoked, preferring to prey on tarantulas, and their sting is supposed to be one the most painful insect stings you can get.

Cazadore -

Many in numbers.

Fast and hard to hit.

Hitting power alone is bad.

Poison is potent.

Their good a spawning out of no where and killing you steathily.

Sometimes i'll kill like 15 of them wth half health and out of nowhere i die and in the slow scene I see a cazadore somehow behind me. I hate those little [censored]ers worst than Deathclaws. They are FO's Cliff-Racers.

I recommend Vance's Machine Gun. Took out a good 20 or so near the Brewing House. Assuming you have enough ammo of course.

Personally I've found that the only solution to the Cazadore-problem is a flamethrower. It usually works wonders as an insect-repellant.

I agree that they're a little overpowered. I'm on normal hardcoe and had poisoning issues with Boone. Now I just leave him behind and take ED-E with me. I found HP with a silenced sniper has no effect on them. I've done a clear hit in vats and no hp is taken. If I use regular ammo, I can usually bring down 1 advlt/one shot. Then I break out the fire axe and melee them since I can take antivenom. I took the melee knock down perk and it'll send enemies flying with a heavey or mauler strike. Or I'll put Boone on a ledge, tell him to wait, and stir up the nest. He'll pick them off while I melee them. I don't know how some are getting headshots, I can't target the heads at all. I'm on PS3 and it's impossible unless they're trying to sting you.

It's the opposite for me, HP ammo and hand loads put them down to a few bars from full with a single hit most of the time.

I was trying to go to Jacobstown, and every rout i tried to take i found a huge pack of Cazadors. I was level 11, and not even Veronica and Rex could hold them off. A few stings and the poison killed me after i tried to restore my health. I had to run away and start a different quest,

those things are deadly, man.
