Ceasar Suicide Run

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 12:44 pm

I kind of cheated. I fought my way to his tent, told my companions to wait, dropped some C4 outside, went in, and came out. Since everyone inside comes out at once, I managed to take out Caesar and all of his guards in one glorious explosion.

Wiped out the entire camp solo with a sniper rifle with a suppressor attachment, most kills were one shot kills to the head... Caesar's tent was tricky for a few minutes until I just used a Stealth Boy (I have 100 Sneak as well :ninja: ) and strapped everyone in his personal area with C4. Backed away into a corner to avoid the blast and KABOOM!! Most of the guards had been blown right out into the surrounding tent area and the only piece of Caesar I could find was his leg leaning against his throne... which I promptly laughed at.

Clockwork, baby.

No, there's no reaction and it totally does break multiple major plot lines. I setup a ton of mines outside the tent, zoned in and out, then had at them. Boone, ED-E, and myself made quick work of the whole lot.

Anyways, the plot was so stupidly broken after their deaths that I just re-rolled a new toon.

Thanks, Obsidian.

Yes there is, Mr New Vegas reports that Ceasar has been assassinated. When you go around the NCR camps, they will comment that you're the person that killed him and wish they were there to see him die. There're also comments in the main quests that while Ceasar is dead, his army reminds and they wouldn't simply vanish because he is dead.

Do NPC's in the game even acknowledge that he's dead? Is the game even programmed to react to this outcome?

Seems this would break one of the major plot-lines.

Despite what others say some people do acknowledge he is dead and that you killed him. They say things like "i sure wish i was there when you killed caesar" or "I heard caesar has been killed" and so on but it has been from basic NPC's and not main characters in it but it is seen by the game as him being dead, thing for me though is i havent beat it totally so im not sure how its going to end cause others still say his "army" not him is ready to strike and i highly doubt that since i [censored] them all with holy frags and light machine gun fire and have revisited a few times to find a few soldiers have respawned but no new caesar but his old dead body still lies in his tent so i mutilated it then sat him back in his throne outta respect for the dead, too bad for him i have none for the living...

The female bartender at the casino in Freeside gives you a free drink for killing Caesar.

Before I went into ceasers tent, I set up about 10 plasma and 10 frag mines in a path away from the tent. I went in the tent (crouched) and as soon as I zoned in went into VATS on Caeser. 2 Shots to the head from the gobi sniper rifle(w/ hollow points) popped his dome off. I immediately zoned out of the tent. A group followed me out, I followed the path of the mines I had laid down. Soon, there were about 5 guys coming at me, all limping from mine damage. Hilarious. Busted out annabelle and sent them flying in all directions.

Yeah. Boone will talk about it if he's there when you whack him, Mr. New Vegas will talk about it and how things will get even more unpredictable. Random NCR troops and gamblers will comment... etc.

Seems this would break one of the major plot-lines.

Nah, talking to Boone afterwards explains why it doesn't.

Killing Caesar doesn't break the main quest, just because he's dead doesn't stop the legate, his second in command from continuing the campaign in the name of the legion. People buy you drinks at some bars and lots of people comment on Caesar's death but thats really about it, the effect wasn't as extreme as I'd hoped. Mostly just gives you the satisfaction of killing the legion's leader and looting his army's main camp.

I also made this suicide run, figuring I'd be killed and ended up wiping out the whole camp around level 23 or something. Its easy if you lure them all out of the main tent, every time I tried fighting them inside, the outcome was always bad for me. I also had to leave all companions close to the ferry because they'd end up getting confused or split up from me in the camp and then dying.

So about 4 days ago and 4 levels (13 at the time) ago I had been playing for about 36 hours straight (with breaks only to eat and relieve myself). In a haze of sleep deprived bravado I decided to stroll up to Caesar (the filthy ponce) and let him know what I thought of him, with high caliber exclamation points. So I walked into cottonwood cove and rather simply dispatched the denizens that awaited me then I boarded the ferry to The Fort. I again strolled among the grisly garden of dead right into Caesar's tent and began liberally letting my displeasure with him express itself. This just might have been a mistake. Boone and "Eddie" didn't make it more then 30 seconds. I wasn't far behind. Being sleep drunk and now angry I made several more attempts on the life of the "imperator". Low and behold after several reiterations of my attack plan I actually succeeded in assassinating Caesar, and his entire retinue of guards and named NPCs.

What I am curious about is if anyone else has attempted this and what their outcome was.

Yeah i killed him to. I rolled in there with t-51b power armor and my light machine gun.

There is no Caesar anymore,

It was beautiful.

Sneaked in little C-4 hidden away, a little reverse pickpocketing, ka boom. Then stealthed out of the camp. The tent can be hard to fight through if your on VH .

Well of course the Legion side of the plot would be broken. Heaven forbid you can actually fail quests in todays games.

Killing Caesar had to be the most satisfying thing I did in the game. Took so many tries. Those Ballistic fists are a pain in the ass.
