Celebrations/Festivities?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:29 am

Considering the calendar system that's been used in the past for the waiting feature, do you think that it would be cool for there to be, on certain dates, festivals and holidays? A bit of unique dialogue, NPCs gathering out in the streets, maybe some decorations, that sort of thing. With the idiom of "Another life in another world" in mind, I think this would add to the immersion, but others might feel it is trivial and unnecessary. What do you think?

I would love it if they'd incorporate holidays and festivals in SK.

I agree towns/cities/factions could celebrate great historical events written/documented from previous games.

I'd never considered anything like that before. Could be pretty cool. Great time to go a-robbing too :P

Could be good for special thieves guild quests. Celebrations could be rife with oppurtunities for special quests of all avenues.

In the infamous Night of Tears; Saarthal was burned, and only Ysgramor and two of his sons fought free of the carnage and escaped to Atmora. The Elves, however, had reckoned without the indomitable spirit of the Nords. Gathering his legendary Five Hundred Companions.......

Could see the Feast of the Dead, sounds like a holiday to me and would certainly give the game character.

I want holidays and celebrations similar to those of Daggerfall. Shops would have sales or healers didn't charge you for their services.

Indeed it would, and by connecting it with previously confirmed lore, the world would become more rooted in its own history.

That would be great! And if it's the count's birthday, everyone would be drinking and talking in the hall!

Exactly! Lots of NPCs socializing and drinking in the hall, decorations and stuff, unique dialogue, that sort of thing.

Sounds like a fun idea but then they have to program the calendar to mean something but I say it would be more than worth it.

Thats why I say some may count it out as trivial, but I think that it wpuld help make the world much more dynamic.

I've been playing Daggerfall, and they have holidays in there. The game would announce it to you and explain the general customs for the day. As Dar'jaar metioned, there would sometimes be discounts in-game.
