Celebrity voice for TES 5

Post » Fri Dec 04, 2009 6:27 am

Which celebrity do you want in TES 5??
In Oblivion there was patrick Stuart and Sean Bean, and in Fallout 3 there were actually a few actors involved in the Main quest like Erik Todd Dellums or Heather Marie Marsden but the Main one was Liam Neeson.
Who do you want to join the memorable NPCs of Bethesda??

None. Celebrities cost ridiculous amounts of money that could be better spent increasing the size of the dialogue system as a whole (or ensuring that more than 10 voice actors do the voices for 10 races w/ male/female distinctions).

I would have agreed, but with new compression software we may get both.

However, if they die after two lines of dialogue, make them kind of an easter egg instead of a major advertising vehicle like capt. Picard.

I agree with the thought that celebrities should not be used. But If I had to, Frank Zappa.

This.

Also, actors for film may not actually be very good voice actors. Actors can use their body, facial expressions, and other non-verbal cues to convey emotion. When the visual aspect is taken away, they probably lack the skill to convincingly impart emotions through voice alone. Besides, Hollywood gives so little dialog to characters in movies and TV shows, I dare say modern cinema has fewer lines of spoken dialog (at least, non-dramatic dialog) than a classic dialog-heavy RPG.

None. They cost too much money for too little gain. People don't buy a game because of a celebrity who dies five minutes into the game, they get a game because it's a good game.

Although if I had to choose... maybe Seth Green? He's pretty well-known, popular with the nerd crowd, he's done video game voices before, and his work on Family Guy and Robot Chicken proves that he's able to do more than one voice.

Malcolm McDowell was great in FO3 though, and had more than 3 lines of dialog. Hell, I can't stop listening to him in FO3. But yes, I'd rather not have celebs in general, and a giant NO! if they only have a few lines of dialog. Get some talented guys and gals that don't necessarily have to be famous, and provide some good and diverse dialog for the different races.

I agree. Celebrity voice actors don't really add anything to the game either, they just take up resources that could be spent on other things that actually make the game better.

I agree completely. Be gone, celebrities!

Besides, being a celebrity doesn't make you an amazing voice actor. Just as in movies, some of the best actors/actresses I've seen were considered "no-names," whereas some of the worst I've seen were celebrities. Bethesda could hire some really talented people, who aren't celebrities, and do just as well (or better) than if they hired celebrities, and they could afford to hire a lot more as well.

I would agree along the line that it should be a case like that if ever they have to diversify the voice for all the races and gender of each one. If they did end trying to do it again, at least don't make them short live and try to use them up whenever they can.

I'll try to say it as calm as possible:

Celebrity voices svck %&$[}!!!

Honestly i DON'T wanna hear celebrity voices, not in movies, not in games, I JUST DON'T because i want to imagine that character and not the ACTOR!
PLEASE stick to either TALANETED actors (Celebrities might be actors but that doesn't make the mcapable VOCIE actors, god i could have strangled Martin at every sentence) or no names that at least SOUND like the character they are playing.

This is a big mistake, thinking "Big name fits", NO it doesn't. I will say this and i know a lot will hate me for it but Patrick Steward svckED as the emperors voice actor.

Well, I'll agree with what's been said. No celeb actors because of the $$$ involved. But if they have to have talented hollywood voice actors... Robin Williams?
