Am I the only one who can't figure out a precise connection between Crysis 1 aliens and Crysis 2 ones (Ceph)?

My theory is that in crysis 1 the aliens you meet inside the mountain were only engineers or civilians working on the production of vehicles and weapons, while the red aliens you face in crysis 2 were inside the armors flying around and attacking you, crysis 2 takes place 3 years after crysis 1, so in this time the aliens developed different weapons and vehicles, possibly because heating was a issue since they lived on a -100c sphere at the island and their weapons are cold-based, so new heat based weapons and vehicles must have been maid

Crysis 1 story really has nothing to do with what Crysis 2 wants to tell.

They clumsily have tried to connect the events of the first with the second for some people who played the 1st to return. However with their focus on consoles they knew console gamers wouldn't buy a sequel when they can't access and know the story of the 1st so they did a story "reboot".
