Chain lightning... WTF

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:10 pm

Ok I have to rant.... why the [censored] does chain lightning hit my companions?!?!?!? Fireball I can live with... it's a huge explosion. But the chain lightning description literally says it jumps from enemy to enemy. Why in gods name does it jump to my ally?!?!? I've had to reload so many times because I end up killing my companion. This is so friggin annoying!!!!!!!

And while I'm at it, why does it seem like sometimes my spells work just right-killing targets in on or two hits- and then other times it'll take like six or seven hits from my spells? Sometimes it almost feels like the difficulty increased on its own or I'm facing enemies that have scaled in difficulty when they shouldn't have. There was a quest where I had to clear out bandits at a fort and they were all like super soldiers. I could go to a nearby cave and the bandits fell with one maybe two hits. This happened again after the 1.2 patch, only now it's EVERYTHING I'm fighting; I've got all the perks in the right places for destruction, and I feel like I'm throwing rocks sometimes!!! I miss being able to zap targets once in the head and watching them fly back....

The chain lightning is smart, it knew your so called "companion" was a enemy in disguise, its helping you out dude!

Some variations of the same creature will be weak, but sometimes they will be jacked up beyond belief.

Level scaling in action-
There's always a few that spawn without scaling, including dungeons you've already visited;
The ones that do scale? watch your spells become weaker and weaker. :laugh:

Doesn't seem to work that way for followers ? :flamethrower:

The problem I have with this is playing as an archer, I didn't run in to this nearly as bad. Once I got my perks set in archery, I could usually take a target out with 1 or 2 shots. If I ran in to the occasional target that took a few more arrows, that was fine. He was just tougher. But as a mage, I might run in to a whole GROUP like that. So either the spells are underpowered in certain situations, or archery is way too overpowered.
