Chainsaw is OP!

Post » Sun Sep 11, 2011 5:16 pm

My character is an energy weapons character. With melee skill at 17. I decided to try out the chainsaw. And Its so OP. My character had no investment in melee and i was playing on very hard difficulty. I was able to kill several giant radscorpions with ease!!! The vats attack is really deadly and the combat attack isnt any weak either. My characters level 12.

The 100% DR/DT penetration needs to be removed. Im sure its not meant to be as it is. Ripper isnt any different but I found that alot more balanced (maybe because I had only 30 damage on it, while with chainsaw I had like 46).

Well don't use it. No one is making you use a weapon that you may think is overkill.

I really don't see a point to this thread, the chainsaw is balanced enough IMO.

What kind of a lame ass solution is that? I want to use it because its a part of the game, but at the same time I dont want to run over the whole game with some EASY-WIN weapon.

Its not over powered and why the hell would you complain about something an force yourself to use it because its 'part of the game world'.

Get something, use it, complain about it, and your solution is to keep using it? To take your words: What kind of lame ass solution it that?

If it was the only weapon you had that would be different.

And its not over powered, its a pretty average melee weapon.

So you want the devs to stop everything and work up a wonder patch just for you? Sounds reasonable.

It isn't overpowered, and the devs aren't going to make a patch just because one person thinks that one weapon in the game is overpowered. I don't even know what you thought you would gain from posting something like this, I mean did you honestly believe that they would patch this or something?

Where did I say the devs should work up a special patch with just one change? Dont put words in my mouth. I think the change should be included along with other changes in the next patch.

As for why do I simply not stop using it? Why should I just ignore this weapon? When something is broken you dont just stop using it, you try to get it fixed. None of you even read my justification. How can you say a weapon is not OP when you can go around killing one of the strongest enemies in the game on very hard difficulty without even investing in the appropriate skill.

If you like to do everything easy, thats different. When you make a statement, you should provide explanation for it and examples. I gave you all a [censored] example. If you think the chainsaw is not OP , then prove it to me. Go attack some enemy with it that doesnt die in 3 VATS attacks.

You lot are the type of people who have ruined gaming and get everything watered down. You want EASY EVERYTHING. You guys are the reason why we have 45 bloody levels in this game and I am either forced to use a mod to cap the level or use the logans loophole.

I still stick to what I said, If you think otherwise, then [censored] prove it.

Bad thing to say. Besides I'm fairly sure we didn't ask for this weapon. (Sorry about speaking for posters.) But, hey your opinon your opinon, but don't insult us.

I don't think any of us want everything easy.

None of the devs care if one guy thinks the chainsaw is OP. They aren't going to fix it just for you. Maybe in a newer patch it'll be a minor change, nothing more. As said before nobody is forcing you to use the chainsaw, it's not a requirement. Just because it's there doesn't mean it's imperative you pick it up and go to town on all the enemies you see.

The chainsaw isn't broken, it's supposed to do that kind of damage, and the giant radscorpion is not even close to one of the toughest enemies in the game. Play the game a little bit more and you will see that the chainsaw isn't really overpowered.

Also settle down, and "stop putting words in my mouth" I don't want "easy everything"

No offense but the Chainsaw is a bit above average for a melee weapon. Its nowhere near broken.

That's the invitation answer for, "Then mod it how you see fit".

IMO I think a chainsaw should be overpowered, but that there should be built in restrictions. Having never used it myself, I wonder if it runs on microfusion? Since it is not technically an energy weapon, they should not have it use military ammunition for (what I'm guessing is) a consumer chainsaw. It should use something less common, and harder to recharge/ re-acquire; and it should break very easily; (as they do when you abuse them by not just cutting trees).

It doesnt use MFCs, or any ammunition for that matter. You should really use it and you will feel its overpowered especially the VATS attack.

And it may sound very weird, but i dont like changing stats on my own :| It doesnt feel right. I like it doing the "official" way. Yeah, go ahead and say i [censored] too much.
