challenge accepted - pacifist build

Well, I've been talking in http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1516717-dragonborn-dlc-decisions/ topic about dragonborn dlc and then, I accidentally suggested a challenge. I decided to try it and even when I fail, i still think that it will be fun.

So how I said, it's gonna be a pacifist build - point is, win all three main quest without killing a humanoid. Only exceptions are main boss from dawnguard dlc and Miraak. Dragons, monsters and animals are just bonuses but I'll try it too. So, playing this build will shape you purely "good" character. This is my concept:

Race: I was thinking about breton and orc. Orc has a perfect racial ability that allows you once per day to deal double demage - this part is useless - and take 50% less demage - and this is awesome for our build. Breton is a reasonable choice because of 50% spell absorbtion. So... one of them, not sure right now.

Armor: First step will be getting 100 level in smithing because we will need really big armor ranting. Then just craft a legendary dragonbone armor or daedric armor (but I hate daedric armor so I'm gona be bone-man). Also, very big part of our build is shield, so I'll make some from dragon or just find Spellbreaker.

Weapons: Weapons are something what we will not really need and I am also thinking about follower, who will do all dirty work, so I'll let them be for now.

Skills: Recommend put all in heavy armor and shield charge perk. Very important will be alternation skill tree. Perk for longer effect of alternation magic, spell absorbtion and in restoration that perk what will heal you 250 points once per day. Also after making your dragon armor, make smithing legendary to free some preks.

Shouts: Now this is important. Shout is key part of this build and it has to be a Slow time shout.

Blessing & standing stone: Blessing of talos and lord stone for +50 to armor and some magic resistance.

Gameplay: I will probably do the quest Book of love to gain Agent of mara passive effect. With amulet and blessing of talos, and alternation longer effect perk, my slow time shout cool down should be so low, that it will guarantee me "unlimited" slow motion. (max payne yeah) During this shout I will be simply sneaking or just running out of troubles :D In combat I will appreciate shield charge perk (don't know real perk name), which will make me way through bandits and stuff, and my heavy armour should help me in dark hours..

Well, that's pretty much it. Any Ideas how to improve it? please tell me your opinions I am really looking forward on this

So it's pretty much a Greybeard?

An orc pacifist would be a sight to see :lmao:

Traditional pacifist builds I've seen have focused on Illusion magic, using it for either the Calm or Fear spells. For enemies who can't be Calmed or Feared, Illusion's Muffle and Invisibility would come in handy.

Restoration (for Turn Undead effects) is a good idea, at least until you can get Illusion's Master of the Mind perk.

Sneak could be part of a pacifist build, too. Just stick to the base perks and the left side of the tree.

Conjuration is another potential choice. I guess it depends on your definition of 'pacifist' - summoning killer atronachs probably doesn't qualify, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

I'm honestly not sure that you'd need an armor skill, especially Heavy Armor. It will slow you down for a while (unless you grab the Steed stone early), and if you play carefully you can avoid getting hit most of the time. Really, you could aim to just *run* through a lot of the difficult spots.

Alteration is a great choice, as is the Shield Charge perk. Depending on how strictly you read pacifism (as in no damage dealing at all), you might also consider the Disarming Bash perk to deal with heavy-hitters (it affects higher-level foes than the Disarm shout).

So I guess my choice would be the following:

Illusion

Restoration

Sneak

Alteration

Block

As for shouts, the following are notable ones off the top of my head:

Unrelenting Force - does damage, but doesn't necessarily kill them

Whirlwind Sprint

Become Ethereal

Kyne's Peace

Aura Whisper

Bend Will

And this last thought is totally unrelated, but it occurs to me that it would be a cool RP thing to play a pacifist in Man/Mer form, and a total bestial killer in Werewolf form. Keep the Cursed Ring of Hircine so your transformations are random, and then when you change, go nuts! Or alternatively, go into Beast Form for those occasions when you *have* to fight, but the rest of the time use your pacifist skills as outlined above.
