i hope all the CoD K/D idiots stay with their [censored],every year the same shooter so people who love team based/objective based gameplay dont have to deal with these cowards.

I don't care if this game is not gettin a 90% metacritic.

This game will not fail at all.
SO MANY TF2 players will switch to Brink i bet cause TF2 is just [censored] with their hats and crafting and OP weapons and all that premium [censored].

Not really. Many of the members here are very informed on the game, and have seen countless videos on it - enough to form an educated guess on whether or not they will enjoy the game. Players do this all the time, it's not some strange phenomenon. When Borderlands was in development, I did my homework and researched the game. I knew I would like when it came out - it's now one of my favorite games.

I agree. I'm a thirty-something and have been playing (fps) games for the best part of my life, this is the first time I pre-ordered a game.
Having followed the development of Brink for a while I think I have a decent idea of what to expect. This made me feel confident enough to pre-order.

It has nothing to do with being a really devoted fan, it is about having the experience to separate the 'hype' from the core game. At its core I think this game will cater to players such as myself, more mature players (irrelevant of age) who like to be challenged and have fun.

Yesterday I watched/listened to a 1 hour 39 minutes Dual Commentary in which the two commentators (both have a CoD background) talked about how games do not evolve and what games shoud do different to CoD, Battlefield, Crysis 2, Homefront et cetera.

Basicly you could've replaced 90% of what they were saying with "Brink, Brink, Brink Brink Brink, Brink Brink, Brink Brink. Brink."

I remember you naedae >< You were the guy who went from 'OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR BRINK' to 'I am no longer excited. waaaah waaah'. In the space of a day.
Litterally ONE day. And now your back with a 'This game is doooooommmed' mood... you confuse me. You are a confuser. :3

Anyways, I will glady take your bet an raise you an ostrich. :3

first off mods, im not trolling , plz take the time to read before locking.....

so, who wants to bet for bragging rights? i say this game will FAIL. it will FAIL not because it will be a bad game , but because alot of ( console ) players aren't ready for a game STRICTLY on team-play.
i guarantee on release, ppl will complain and say how much this game svcks. i also predict a metacritic score no higher than 79.

so if u accept my "bet" , just sign here and ill bump this thread on release date to look back at all those who accepted the bet post-release. if im wrong , ill admit it.

discuss por favor . again , NO TROLLING intended.

While you keep saying "not trolling" you then fill it with what can only be described as trolling, since 1) you specifically point out console players and 2) you presume to know what "a lot" of said players are or are not prepared for.

it shall not fail! the shallow K/D players will all rage and quit, and then people will see the dynamic teamplay and flock and Brink shall be the greatest shooter of modern age, showing people what a real shooter should be about, and if people ignore Brink and see it as inferior, then i will lose all hope in gamer-kind...

One of the biggest problems that i see right of the start with this game is the scoreboard. The scoreboard is total trash, you cant expect people to like it when you have like two stats on it. :banghead:  It just does not make sense, you need more stats, people want to see what they do in the game, who is the best, whose the guy who got the most this and the most that. It doesn't have to be k/d but something maybe how many objectives planted or destroyed or accomplished. The scoreboard is definitely the weakest part of the game that i see right now.

So what you are saying is no one like BFBC:2? They have one stat....Points. The total accumulated through the entire match.

Edited

LOL guys , i AM a console play anyways i agree with HyperNT about the score board being bad/boring.also, REALLY guys? claiming you'll " love the game" without playing yet is ABSURD and u know it.@ above poster...... YES! homefront was a HUGE FAIL

How is that 'absurd'. I know when Fallout New Vegas was coming out I had my doubts because it was not made by Bethesda. I would have still loved it regardless. And I love it still today. I have over 300 hours into that game, through all of the glitches and bugs.

What you just said is the exact reason why they took stats like that out. People will obsess over stats and lord them over each other instead of focusing on having fun with a game.

That is what a game is designed for, after all, right?

Much appreciated, brother. :spotted owl:

Honestly, the OP's opening statement reminds me of someone saying "promise you won't get mad" before admitting to ten different betrayals.

And I am very pleased to see that while this thread started out rather heated, I've seen so many confident reassurances of faith in Brink and Splash Damage that the OP most likely failed in his mission.

Keep this faith going, guys. :)

Right!

My stats in Bad Company 2 don't look that impressive, but I'm a better player than the stats suggest and have done my bit for the team during many games. I'm sure Brink will be great since it has a better reward system for players who like to play the game for the game.

.... Wait, wait, I remember Naedae. He's been posting negative threads about Brink ever since he joined -- threads that border on "the T word."

Don't feed him. He's been trying to stir controversy since he's been here.

The only complainers I'll see will be 12 year old COD fans. I like owning in COD, and doing the objective and all. I accept your challenge. I believe BRINK will score better than 79. I also think there will be teamwork, if for no other reason than for the kiddies to level up faster.. I'll take it a step further and bet a :ninja: :turtle:

The only thing thing I am worried about most is that it may not do that well on the PS3 since a lot of people have left and switched consoles. As an avid PS3 player, it will be hard to see for those first couple of months playing with almost the same people every match... :sadvaultboy:

ok,I think this matter needs to be settled.

When we heard about the competitive players saying positive reviews about brink(people who legitimately played i),it was all ok as expected. But now we get a sudden rush of these new users who are literally claiming that they played it and bashing it.I "BET" the people who played it are-kids who are obv COD [censored],one shot wh0res and torrenters who are the least people in this world that you could take an advice from.

Seriously,I really would not consider taking anything serious from a COD player on this.Plus,12 year olds defo should be banned from playing any M games.Makes the world a lot better(including the forums imo).

Taken from http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/fragworlds-brink-qanda-with-richard-ham.html

Q: Will players have personal career stats? Will there be stats of any kind? Will there be K/D in game and lifetime.
A: In game, we do end of match “best of” awards, and we also have leaderboards for the challenge missions, but we don’t do traditional kill stats.

There's also this taken from the http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/05/06/brink-community-qa-part-1-stats-site-revealed/

Will you show people their rank and status online like Bungie has done with Bungie.net? – Vapor Chaos

We’re currently working on a stats website for Brink where you’ll be able to see your progress through the game along with a whole bunch of statistics, including abilities, weapons, and even SMART moves. It’ll also display summaries of your most recent matches and even show the overall status the on-going civil war raging on the Ark. We’re very much looking forward to launching the site and think you’ll really enjoy exploring it.

More on that soon!

Needless to say, I think there will plenty of stats and numbers to stroke players egos who need it.

Oh, and the BC2 scoreboard list the exact same thing - player name and point amount. Any other stats, like K/D, are listed on a separate tab.

Regardless of your opinion people will still buy the game, if its good they will play it if its crap they wont. Same with every other game, only time will tell. I personally think that they have done enough to cater for the "tired of cod" crowd.

i recon the CoD players will leave in a week - month give or take. The real console gamers that like team play will love it. Casual/family gamers, i dunno, depends how easy it is for them to understand, how steep the learning curve is.

No mainstream success equals a failure now? Don't make me laugh. There's a ton of brilliant games barely played by the mainstream gamer, and unrecognised (scored rather badly) by the press.

I have some expectations of this game, and I don't think it will fail to deliver most of the things I expect from it

If this game now is a massive failure in my eyes after I've played it, I will probably take a break from gaming all in all for a while
