Challenges the only way to unlock weapons

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:57 am

Well it looks like bayonets are back in.

BTW everyone only the first 2 levels of challenges unlock the 3rd level is only for bragging rights.

I really hope their not back in. that was a big reason i was gonna use a pistol because i thought that was the exclusive way you could use a knife.

So now you can have better weapon with a bayonet...

Doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed awhile ago. In any case I actually like it, it makes sure that the people with the nice guns actually earned them

This, while some things from playtime would be nice I like the fact you truly have to earn the weapons.

The way you wrote your first post was that you were going with a pistol because it gave you the ability to knife people.

So it wasn't a "big reason you were going to use a pistol," just because you wanted a knife; you wanted to be a light, and lights are forced to use pistols.

Look at it as another advantage for bigger classes.

i still dont think its fair to do that.

Play to win. Unlocking weapons with playing and increasing your own rank. Used in many fps players this days :) I think it's gonna be same with BRINK.
Although, I don't really care at this moment, just want that 13th May shows up and I can play the game :toughninja:

They better lose the knockdown and get a longer switch time.

I don't have a problem with bayonets as long as there's disadvantage to them as well.

Maybe the same as knifing - no knockdown, but extra damage.

And they'd probably decrease equip speed significantly as well.

they better. i really dont feel like being taken out by a guy with high sensitivity and a bayonet. they better have a slower time between stabs too.

I'd say a bayonet takes the abilities of the knife, so no knockdown.

Probably take a longer time to switch, and reduced stability too since the character's holding up that additional weight, all stationed at the end of the barrel.

And I don't see how that's unfair Deathshroud. They postponed the release date a couple months to ensure the game stayed balanced...The bayonets will have downsides to balance out the upsides.

Unless this is just another issue of wanting light operatives to be ninja and backstab people, and being unique in that aspect. Which is probably what your issue is.

kinda. im just worried theyll become a problem i dont want to be running around as a light. shoot an enemy with my pistol enough to get his life down for a knife incap. then have him stab me in the face and insta-incap me. they should be inferior to the pistol knife in some way. i.e. having a longer time in between stabs+the other things you said.

i think lights need things that work well with their speed to even the odds. the knife was one of those things i thought. now that everyone can have them. it loses some of its allure.

How's this for a balance - Pistol + knife = swing with wide arc, bayonet = stab, only hits someone in range AND centre of crosshairs.

Seems reasonable to me.

Since the level one challenges are supposed to be easy, more like tutorials, i think its just their way of doing a tutorial without making people feel forced into it. My baseless guess is that the level 1 challenges unlock weapons and the level 2 ones unlock attachments, since it would fit in with SD's philosophy of "best unlocks first"

Seems reasonable but you only get 1 attachment on a challenge I thought, not all of them for the gun.

I'm pretty sure that only some of the weapons and attachments are challenge related.

it seems like that would severely limit the total number of weapons/attachments

That is, unless there is a great deal of challenges

Attachments are not specific to weapons. Ex. Unlock the COGA sight and you can use it on any weapon that accepts that sight.

yeah now that I think about it, the one attachment per challenge system could probably work just fine. It would work out to around 15 unlocks, which sounds about right

Did you think I meant something like only unlocking the silencer for say the Dragnov LR and not for the other guns?

no for some reason I was thinking that there were only 3 challenges, meaning that you'd only unlock 9 guns/attachments - which seemed like a low number
