Chance of Todd Howard Gameplay Demo?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:40 am

Are we really not getting one with Fallout 4 before release then? I've started to anticipate them almost as much as the release of Bethesda's games, to be honest. I don't actually know if Todd played them in the past (I'm guessing he didn't), but I would really like to see an uninterrupted 20-30 minute gameplay demo with Todd's soothing voice explaining things throughout.

Stay tuned in the beginning of September. Skyrim's three part, game walkthrough came out on ~September 7th (correct me if I'm wrong).

Wouldn't surprise me if we've got all we're getting.

Whenever they release something, 'hardcoe' gamers or 'Fallout 1 enthusiasts' complain about it,

so given the success of the Pip-Boy Edition and Fallout Shelter, why should they jinx it?

Anyway, such a demo would not further convince anyone already 'sold' on the game.

In the weeks before launch they can run adverts with 'Atom Bomb Baby' for casual purchasers and the job is done.

dammit I thought this thread was going to be a link to a new gameplay video or something and got my hopes up.

To answer your question, we don't know. I would hope they would officially release that gamescom (or was it quakescom???) video.

I have a feeling we'll still be seeing one, even though I have nothing to base that on. It was good marketing for Skyrim, I am sure I wasn't the only one who watched it many times over. When I play Bethesda games its not so much the exciting action that gets me really into it, its the deep immersion of being inside of the world and roleplaying my character. The gameplay videos with Todd's voice over for Skyrim is the best form of promotion for people who enjoy the game like I do, and although I have pre ordered long ago I really hope they do put out another one so I can see the game naturally flowing from one part to the other instead of the fast action cuts we saw in the Gameplay Exploration video.

I'd expect to see it, as there's only really a voice over from Todd to add and Bethesda seems averse to any extra work that devising a new gameplay video would entail (which is understandable).

You could PM a mod I think. They do have the ability to change it, and I think they've done it on request before, but its been a while.

Eh, not that sorry, really, would've changed it if only a matter of editing. If a mod comes along and thinks it's too misleading I'm sure they'll edit it themselves.

No need to apologize to me :P

I do hope we get the standard Todd "The Godd" Howard's gameplay demo sometime before launch though. A lot of different people can experience the game in different ways, and they've covered a lot of people who are really into the new mechanics with building and combat with their marketing so far, and I hope they start showing off some uninterrupted open world stuff soon. A good idea would be a tour of one of the early areas, showing off a small bit of what awaits us in the world. It may spoil a little bit, but I think the best way to be truly confident in your game is to show off demos of raw gameplay, cutting all of the fancy marketing aside and showing us the brilliance of this world you've spent the last 4+ years working on.

Oh I guess we're not discussing the chance of getting a gameplay demo where we play as Todd Howard?? :)

I'm hoping Bethesda will start releasing official gameplay footage starting in September. Their 'silent hill' waiting tactics are weird. Thankfully Metal Gear Solid V is coming soon to keep me busy.

The only thing we know for sure, is they'll be releasing S.P.E.C.I.A.L videos at some point... but, I wouldn't rule out a gameplay showing narrated by Todd Howard.

Er, I think we all know someone is going to use the character creator to that end...

I think they stated that they will not be giving away any of the story at all before release.. That being said, they usually allow hands on reviews closer to release so who knows? It would be interesting to see a minor side quest or just some random exploration.

My question is what is taking so long? We're a couple months from release and really haven't seen much at all. What happened to "when we announce our new game, we want to show a lot of it"?

I'm as eager/greedy as anyone for a new demo, but Bethesda has in fact shown quite a bit of this game, in comparison to other developers. I mean, their announcement/reveal was a 30-minute-plus demo. How many other games do that?

Only if Todd isn't talking -lol-

I don't find his voice at all soothing.. It is distracting me from what I want to see..

Don't explain it.. Just show me.,.
