Change Cass's apparel? : Fallout: New Vegas

I just recruited cass, and really want to remove that cowboy hat, or at least replace it with a beret or something. How can i do this?

The way I did it was giving her a metal helmet and swapping it out, It works sometimes.

She will wear any head item that has a DT rating of 2 or more. Just put it in her inventory. Same for any humanoid companion besides Lily.

Try to give her Boone's Beret.....no guarantee though

If you play on PC, you can remove the hat from her with console:
open console
click on Cass
type inv
look for the hat in the list (if you can't see it, empty her inventory)
(with cass still selected) type removeitem 1

That way she'll be wihtout any headgear unless you give her one, and you are able to take it away when you want trough her inventory.

Should work for other items not accessible trough the companions inventory interface too, such as clothing and weapons. I haven't tested this, but removing the "magical companion ammo" should make them use ammo like the player does, for those who want really hardcoe gameplay

If your playing on a pc yes, otherwise it's the old grey underwear.

I think they should really patch it so the last clothing/armor item we put in their inventory they put on.
I don't want Veronica to wear her half-ling robe but I don't want her to wear any armor either.
I want to be able to give the companions any kind of clothing item so it fits with the role I play.
svcks that they only wear stuff that is above their default DT.

Anyways, would port Tribal Power Armour back as that seems to suit a Cowgirl better than average Salvaged Power Armour.

Just open up their inventory, take all the stuff you don't want them to wear/use, give them the stuff you do want them to wear/use. I have to do this to Boone all the time, he always loots such garbage from our kills.

But I want them to wear stuff with no DT sometimes so that their appearance fits the role I want to play.
And with Veronica for example it isn't possible as her default clothing has a certain DT and she won't change into something with lesser DT.
Sadly one can't take their default clothing out of their inventory.

She likes to go on and on about the mistreatment of women ... which is hilarious when you've got her wearing certain of the Raider armors, which make her look like an almost-naked barbarian wearing a few scrappy / spikey leathers.
