change of plans..need advice

Post » Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:36 pm

since i'm afriad of long load times like in obliv or mass effect 2 for ps3 and xbox i decided i'm gonna wait for the release and the reviews about the skyrim load times for consoles. if the load times are painful then i'm gonna default on my cc debt and buy a i5 desktop for $699. now if the load times are okay then i'll buy a console version. the advantage of the console version is i can sell it back after a year.. although i held onto oblivion for 3 years and couldnt sell it back or get a decent resale price on it. also i save $699 if i buy the console version, but i have bad memories of watching the red loading bar in obliv on the ps3 and i dont want to repeat that pain
wow i am smart, i should work as a sales rep for the skyrim game making gods

If you're soliciting advice I would suggest NOT defaulting on a credit card just so you can play a video game on a PC instead of a console.

Uhhh... My advice would be to get a part time job and pay off your debt, then start playing video games again.

I mean, I'd expect load times... I'm sure they can't be any worse than Oblivion. If you already have the means to play the game- Don't buy a PC. Just buy the game. There's no sense in paying $700+ on a game.

First off $700 is alot for a PC, you're doing it wrong. Second, don't default on your credit card... That's what this economy needs.....

You see that's where the written word is dangerous, you couldn't see the big smile on my face when I posted what was actually a joke.

As for a war, I couldn't care less what version of the game someone I've never met and never will meet spends their cash on...lighten up.

Just get it for the console, load times aren't going to be that bad. And defaulting a credit card is a really stupid thing to do just to avoid slightly longer load times.

Consoles are great, especially for TES games. I have gotten more pleasure from playing the console over PC because you actually play the game instead of a bunch of crappy MODs that you feel you have to load to make the game better. Some will make the game better but most will not. You will find yourself playing Skyrim and thinking of what mods can make the game better but in the long run you are better off enjoying the game on the console IMO. :brokencomputer:

Yeah.... Don't default, that's stupid. Get the game on the console, and put up with whatever load times it gives you. To be honest, should you really be buying a game and not putting the money towards paying off your debt? If I ever slip into debt I know leisure will be the first thing to go in budget restraints.

Really? I believe I played Oblivion on the PS3, and I didn't remember any long loading screens? It was pretty fluent if I remember correctly.

Oh, and.. Yeah, don't do that. Just get it for the 360.

Just what I was going to say... I don't own a PS3 so I'm not sure if they have a similar feature.

As far as I remember you need to install every game you have on PS3... I haven't gotten a new PS3 game in a while so I might be wrong.

Though defaulting is not in the least a good way to do it, waiting to see which version best suits you is definetely prudent.

Oh boy...

And people say mods are the biggest reason to get it for PC. I guess I was wrong /sarcasm

Anyways, don't fool around with your credit. It can only come back to bite you in the end when you want to buy a car or house or get a loan for anything. A $700 computer pre-built might not be able to play skyrim as well as a computer you build yourself. There are barebone computers on many websites where you just add an OS and a video card and you are pretty much set, all for 5-600 dollars.

But if you don't have the money, racking up more debt is a foolish thing to do. If you must buy the game get it for whatever system you already have.
