Change Target Registration Distance?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about what variables control the distance at which you register that the cursor is hovering over a target. To give some context to my request, I'm looking to increase the range at which I can give a follower an "Attack this" order. It's a useful ability completely hampered by the fact that you can't seem to register a target at anything other than extremely short ranges.

I would like to be able to sneak and tell my bow-wielding companion to sneak attack an NPC in the distance.

I imagine that the registration distance limit is the same thing the controls when a target's name shows up on your screen. I'm aware that this may break the game for people who don't want to know whether the person up the road is a bandit or not. I'm hoping that if I can modify the registration distance, that I can decouple the display effect.

Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this?

Cheers,

I can't help directly, but I thought I'd mention that with the Telekinesis spell equipped, the target name appears at long ranges when targetting an object. The option (take, steal) doesn't appear until you're in the normal range.
This might be worth looking into when working on this.
Good luck!

Hey,

Thanks heaps, I didn't know that. Sounds like a great place to start! Will get on it when I get home.
