Change in tatics

Ladies and Gents, I svck at this game. Lvl 15 with a K/D of 1.03 and not much time played. I started the game as if it were COD, died a lot. Then I camped in a corner in stealth mode and didn't get a kill. I ran around in armor mode/ stealth mode only to find the opponent and get killed cause my armor is already half gone. I have done almost every strategy I could think of, but I still svck. If someone would be willing to post some advise that would be great. If you feel like going above and beyond your call, send me your GT and we could play together and you can see first hand why I svck. Thank you Ladies and Gents.

Side note, please no "you svck, get better,or just quit" post please... I would enjoy mature responses only. Thank you again.

I don't know what you're doing wrong, but I can tell you what seems to work for me.

I usually only cloak when moving from cover to cover, or if I'm being shot at and can get behind cover. If I cannot get behind before death, armor up and return fire. Don't stealth while being shot at unless you have something to block the bullets... It'll just drain your energy bar and ensure death.

I've gotten into the habit of just hitting armor anytime I'm about to fire at someone. In the event there's return fire or there's another enemy firing from the side/back, I'm covered.

I can say that probably 75% of my deaths come from behind. Outside of wearing headphones (which I do occasionally, but I think since I haven't worn them in a quite a long time, my ears aren't trained to drown out the gunfire so it's almost impossible for me to hear footsteps) I can't think of a way to avoid this other than luck.

This said, I'm not the best of players either. I'm like level 25 with 1.32 K/D ratio. I think the rest just comes with time.

I don't think a person's KDR indicates if someone svcks or not. My KDR is wafers between .8 & .9, but that is because I play Crash Site and other objective games exclusively. I rarely play Instant Action variants.

In Crash Site I get in there and secure the pod and keep it accumulating points for my team. This causes me to die a lot since I am always in the "hot zone". Then there are the PUSSIES who stay outside the "pod zone" and hide in a corner somewhere so they can protect their precious KDR. Those people don't know how to play a game like man. Usually half my team is like that.

WIth this play style I am always #1 or #2 on the leaderboard after the game and usually also score the MVP. My W/L ratio in Crash Site is over 2.00

KDR don't mean sh*t. It is the W/L ratio, # of MVP's scored, & other stats like that. That is what shows the men from the boys.

I agree with you, but if all he's looking to do is improve is aim or figure out how to maximum the nanosuit's energy/abilities... K/D in Instant Action isn't a bad gauge of how you're progressing. Though I do wish it would display the K/D at the end of the game (dare I say, similar to CoD: Black Ops). Simply because, over time, that ratio is going to move very slowly in the status screen.

Hey, I know how you feel. I have a 1.98 KDR or something and I feel like I svck :/

I think I can name the two most important skills in Crysis 2 though (aside from the basics): Awareness and Energy efficiency. I'm trying to unlock all the modules that use less energy, recharge your energy or make energy recharge faster.

I haven't figured out the best way to improve awareness apart from looking around a lot and sticking with your team, but 70% (yes, I pulled that out of nowhere but it seems right) of my deaths I think are from me not knowing they are there.

Of course there are gameplay mechanics to help your awareness: Nanovision and tagging. Also, cloaking gives you a chance to survey the area with a low chance of being detected.

That's what I've noticed anyway, good luck.

Dont worry about it so much. Of all the games I've played Crysis is probably the hardest to keep a good KDR in. Mine's just dipped below 1 recently (soon to be returning I hope) but I would say both my awareness and energy efficiency are pretty good and my speed thinking is improving, but there's just no accounting for the times you activate armour yet die instantly because you've been getting shot at for the last 5 minutes without realising it; or the times where you spawned, turned a corner and found 3 enemies running around in a group.

The learning curve is steep, too. Hopefully I'll be able to hold something like 1.6 over the hours I'll play this, will certainly help when some of my friends start getting this.

I dont think that there is a certain tactic about the game, it's just like any other game if you know the map well then you know where most people are likely to come up behind you or the side etc. its all about timing, luck, connection and maybe a bit of skill hence why one game you'll be tp and then the next bottom of the table.
