1. Make Dragonborn business less Nords-only. There should be examples of non-human Dovahkiins in history and Greybeards should acknowledge if we are Dragonborn but not Nord.
For example, when you get the Horn and listen to the GB's "words of greeting", you could ask:
"What did you say?"
"[blah blah] you are Ysmir now, Dragon of the North..."
"But I'm not a Nord. How that has to do with me?"
"Oh, they are just words of tradition. You are not the first Dragonborn of your kind, but in High Hrothgar we are used to having Nords as our students, thus the emphasis on Nord history in our teachings."
2. Make races actually unique and add racial recognition to the game. An Altmer should not be treated like a Nord by the Thalmor. Stormcloaks should not be very accepting of an Argonian joining their ranks (requiring you to do 5 Windhelm quests before joining for example), Forsworn shouldn't attack Bretons on sight unless they get too close (like bandit camps).
3. Longer and more refined faction questlines. Becoming arch-mage in 1,5 hours while knowing only two spells is just ridiculous. No mandatory soul-selling in Thieves Guild.
4. Bring back old skills like Unarmed (or whatever the fist-fighting skill was), Mysticism, etc.
5. Hire better writers.
Good luck with that. Bethesda is under the illusion that they're actually good at writing.
1. Make followers more interactive with more personality and backstory. At the very least, make all followers as interactive as Serana is.
2. More clothing accessories, such as capes/cloaks. More variety in the designs of circlets, to where they're not all basically the same, with just color changes.
3. More variety in foods and drinks. Kinda bad that all that exists to drink is alcohol and milk. No water available? On a similar note, add eating/drinking animations.
4. The ability to equip two rings; one on each hand. Realistically, one could equip at least ten rings at once, but that would be way overboard.
5. More variety in weapons. I favor greatswords and there just weren't as many different types as I would've liked. Armor variety is fine, I think. But I like more variety in weapons.
And since this one is a given, I didn't list it in my 5 choices, but FIX SOME ANNOYING BUGS!!! I've said it a few times before, but one bug that bothers me the most, besides the cockroach, is my followers simply stopping in their tracks when following me and I have to wait a considerable amount of time for them to get moving again.
1) More spells
2) Stronger Destruction Spells
3) Open ended quests with more than two paths
4) The ability to destroy the Thieves guild
5) The ability to destroy the Fighters guild
6) An arena
7) Better first person combat system
8) Stronger dragons
9) Companions with more depth
10) Lots of ending paths
11) More depth to the factions
I basically just want it to be Fallout New Vegas in Elderscrolls form.
Why not simply make horses run faster and sprint even faster probably also sprint longer than today, you can always use buff food or potions yourself.
To give horses unlimited stamina they could just increase run speed to sprint speed and remove sprint.
Which would honestly improve the game significantly.
Except that the mindless exploration that we all know and love about Beth games would suffer as a result.
Yes, but make them larger and stronger, give them an ranged attack so they can attack from the air, wait they did this.
My list
1 spell making and more magic effects.
2 less annoying npc, no need to repeat the stupid one liner all the time for most of them, yes Adriane I'm looking at you, its all right if you ask me to buy something but stop bothering me about your father, I bought a house of him as he probably told you.
3 better quest journal, more information of the quest, for radiant ones give the name of quest giver and his position and or residence, and keep the information, either option to refuse quests and / or let us move quest to an page two fir finished quests, and move them back.
4 better quest lines, for the guild ones, an combination of radiant quest, some fun story based scripted ones and a reputation like in Morrowind would to wonders for the guild quests round it off with an oblivion style line of story quests.
5 pants, dropping pants was a stupid as dropping your pants in real life. To compensate for the performance issue have the civil war battle soldiers be just one armor model who drop stuff then dies, no you would not be able to see that you have looted them but they was removed seconds after death anyway.
All this with the exception of better quests would be easy to do, more magic effects could just modify existing visual spell effects.
I agree with all of this^
Took the words from my fingers~
Yes, one mindblowing thing is how much larger TES games is, Fallout 3 was an large game with lots of places and quests, it was tiny in TES scale.
The size has an cost,
Sadly, everything else that could make it a good RPG when compared to Fallout New Vegas or The Witcher. I suppose a somewhat reasonable sacrifice in favor of Bethesda's talent for hand crafted world design than detailed work in any other areas.
I'm going to just keep focused on gameplay mechanics right now, rather than the quality of writing and whatnot.
1. Completely revamp the UI: Seriously, this is the single worst UI I've seen in a game. No way to customize your sorting in the inventory or enter a search, the things are listed alphabetically (except when they aren't), including spells, meaning you can't just scroll down to your Expert level spells or to your Shock spells, you have to peruse the area until you find the spell you're looking for like trying to find a particular blu-ray because you're friend arranged them by primary color. You also can't move the items you want to use the most to the top of the pile.
And then you get into storage containers, which suddenly shift the rules for how weapons and armor are stored but keep everything else the same. Worse, unlike NPCs, shops, and your character, these aren't separated by types, so you have to look through everything to find that book you wanted. Plus, Bethesda wanted to use Roman Numerals, but forgot to make the game read them as numbers, so suddenly we live in a world where IX precedes V.
2. Bring back spellmaking, and every single spell that was lost from Oblivion and Morrowind with possibly the exception of Levitate, even though I think that should be included because it would allow for more interesting dungeon designs. Also allow magic to be used on horseback.
3. Multiple entrances/exits to cities and buildings, including hidden entrances thieves should use to sneak into the cities (sewers, tunnels, etc), as well as windows and similar things to sneak into people's homes. Also, if your character climbed/jumped over a city wall, it would either take you in/out of the city through that area. Tired of my thieves having to use the front gate or door to get to their marks.
4. Larger cities and less linear dungeons. I'm tired of running down what is essentially a linear corridor. Give me multiple paths that lead to the same goal, and paths that can only be accessed by people with certain skills (magical barriers or areas only an agile thief can climb up to). This one-size fits all approach to dungeons is boring. The larger cities plays a bit into point 3 as well as:
5. Better movement system. The ability to increase you running speed and jumping height, climbing, perform ceiling clings for stealthy types etc would really be appreciated from someone like me who wants my thief to be able to avoid combat not just from sprinting a whole bunch but from pretty much being an acrobat and being able to outmaneuver the enemy in ways that are actually fun to watch and play when compared to running in the opposite direction.
Make it so the Dragonborn's hands can lift objects and put them in designated areas correctly. Please.
