Changing 1st Person Model Object for Weapon

Post » Wed Aug 17, 2011 7:24 pm

Hello,

I am trying to make a weapon that uses the wrench01 mesh (wrench01.nif). However, as it is my first time doing this, I realized a problem with the 1st person model object. That is, simply creating a static object using the wrench01.nif mesh and using that as the 1st person model object wasn't enough (I compared to the SledgeHammer, for example, and its 1st person model object just had a static that used the SledgeHammer mesh, except its mesh was in a weapon directory and the wrench was not) (it is slotted/holstered weird, as well as grip -- it seems to default to hand-to-hand combat) -- unless I am doing something wrong, of course!

So, what am I supposed to do?

I did some research, and all the weapon tutorials I found basically stated that I had to use all these graphic editing programs and so forth. I also had found some mods that people already made that did exactly what I wanted -- that is, I was able to use their wrench mesh as the static object used for the 1st person model object, and the player equipped it like a person would equip a wrench.

What did they do?

Thanks for any help!

You don't actually need the static 1st person object. Its just the weapon mesh itself.

Your problem however is the wrench isn't set up to be used as a weapon. I have something that can help.

NOTE: Requires knowledge of NifSkope.

You can skip the bit about duplicating the mesh as you are only dealing with one mesh.
