I live in Germany and our localization just svcks! (If you wonder how bad it is try to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMQ-FYd3ksk and bear with me ) So the question is, will i be able to change the language if i purchase a hard copy in Germany ? I've asked Amazon.de and they said that they don't know. So, if any of you have information about this, i would be grateful.

I'm not sure if you will be able to change the language when you purchase from Steam. The Steam support didn't know and Pete didn't answer my tweet, so ordering the UK version is the safest way I think.

So, you haven′t heard about the latest news regarding the new voice actors:

? Bernd Vollbrecht, voice actor of (Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas)
? Marion von Stengel, voice actor of (Jolie and Pamela Anderson)
? Wolfgang Jürgen, voice actor of (Charlton Heston and Dennis Quaid)
? Joseline Gassen, voice actor of (Bette Midler und Ellen Barkin)

Namedropping won′t help at all. The German version of Oblivion had some recognizable voice actors too.. and it svcked for the most part.
I mean, the emperor sounded like he was drunk or something. NO match for the original VO in any way. Some of the other voices didn′t even try to sound convincing.
You couldn′t tell between an Argonian and a regular dude because they didn′t do the accents at all. Everybody kinda sounded the same.

Plus.. judging from a product description on Amazon.. they are gonna translate stuff they havent before.. like "Skyrim" (y′know the province) is going to be called "Himmelsrand"
while that doesn′t sound outright bad.. it′s not what they′ve done in past games and a huge immersion breaker.

Oh and don′t get me started on the many, MANY, translation errors its gonna have. If the books are like OB, they will be a freaking mess in German due to a host of translation errors and bad formating.

Yeah, there were nice voices in Oblivion, too. Localization svcked anyway. And it still svcks after 4 Years. But its good that we can mod it. A SINGLE PERSON did in about 8 hours of work what a multimillion dollar company like bethesda couldn't do in 4 years.

For example: "Grand potion of healing" was translated to something like "G. T. d. Heil."

Very "nice" and thoughtful work, indeed. The only explanation was: bethesda didn't give a damn about the german community.

But since the game is bound to steam we'll have no problem anyway if the localization goes wrong again. You can change the language of nearly every game available in Steam .
