Changing magic effect visuals

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:38 am

Hi, I have created a new spell that has a script effect, I chose the Shock Damage visuals effect in the script effect info part of the dialogue box.

My problem is that the spell is cast at the player repeatedly over a short space of time, and what happens is that the player ends up with a large blue cloud around him that completely obscures him from view when looking in the third person. I would like to be able to see the player for this, so Im wondering if there is a way to remove this blue cloud from the visuals effect? I obviously would need to create a new visuals effect to prevent me from changing all the other shock damage spells in the game, but Im not sure how to go about it or if it can even be done?

Cheers for any help.

EDIT - I can attempt to take a few screenies if Im not being that clear about my problem ;)

As far as I know, you cannot create new magic visual effects, only change existing ones. So if none of the default effects are what you desire, you'll need to change one, and keep in mind that it will change how that effect looks anytime a spell that uses that effect is cast in the game.

To change the effect, you'll need to edit the mesh and/or texture associated with the effect. Click on the Gameplay menu in the CS, and go to Magic Effects, to see a full listing.
