Changing TES?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:48 am

I have updated the poll with Removal of Class System and Spell Making.

Well Looking at the poll there, it seems that alot of stuff from previous elder scrolls titles has been taken out of the game. Alot of people were in uproar when Oblivion came out because they took out alot of what was in Morrowind.

In may opinion Skyrim is no longer a TES game. Its just going to be another run of the mill fantasy RPG, dumbed down for the kiddies. Though I'll still buy it, but It will never be as good as Morrowind was.

They have taken out many of the RPG elements that made TES what it is, and have only kept some of the lore (Dragons were DEAD, and we were all assured they would never return).

Aside from the assignment of things to each hand, I'm liking everything that Bethesda are doing with the game.

That's one of the main things they've promoted so far.

Where's the poll options for "There isn't anything I don't like" and "I like everything"?

We may as well just be playing Might and Magic.

Doesn't mean everyone has to like it.

I would update my vote but it won't let so ill add that I like the removal of classes but I'm not sure about spellmaking I'll need more info before I judge that.

You can remove your vote from the poll and then vote again.

We may as well just be playing Might and Magic.

I mean Dark Messiah.

I dislike faster leveling up. Should be slower, not faster.

This is the feature that concerns me most, but I'm hoping to counter it by using a pretty diverse skill set. Otherwise, I'm pretty much in wait and see mode concerning the gameplay changes.

You're right. The poll is incomplete though. There's nothing i'm disappointed with and I love everything I've seen and heard so far. Unfortunately there's no poll options that include me.

Add nothing to the poll, I don't dislike anything I've heard about Skyrim so far.

This was my answer. I'm not going to set myself up to dislike one of my most favorite games. After I play it, then I'll know what I love about it and if there's anything I don't care for.

gaah, for some reason i can't vote in Polls, it's odd... i'm sure there's a reason, and i'm just to dumb to figure it out...
I've played DnD a lot, so i think any RPG should have classes, although their resoning for their removal is sound, but removing attributes seems a bit weird...
as for feats at levels, again, reminds me of DnD, but you never seemed to have enough, so that could get annoying...
and the other stuff i was going to say, i forgot about while i was shouting at the Poll for not working...

As opposed to most of you other guys, seemingly, I haven't actually played Skyrim yet so I couldn't tell whether those changes are good or bad.

I think the new combat/wielding system is great.... for weapons and shields at least. I think its weird to make a magic user "equip" a spell. I mean, it just seems like they looked at Bioshock, said "oh that's cool!" and decided to blatantly use their system... I dunno... its not that its a ripoff that bothers me, I don't mind some good features propagating across games, but I just don't think it makes sense to use it as a system for magic in an Elder Scrolls game.

Do you like how Bethesda have changed the game?

Tick if you DONT like.

or

Tick if you DO like.

or

Tick if you think I missed a feature out of the poll.

You do realize that you level faster because the level cap has been increased to 50...

Which we've known for months.

And there's already soooo many polls on this :(

Birthsigns were dumb, daggerfall didn't have them and it's character creation was much better.

Birthsigns were a terrible downgrade from daggerfall's previous system. Removal of spellmaking is intriguing, I found magic to be sort of a dumb system to be honest.. it was too literal and mathematic. I like that you aquire new spells when you level up.

Though, it would be nice if Enchanting would cover spellmaking.. perhaps in a more elegant form.

Well thats how it was in morrowind. ButI'd prefer it like Oblivion where I could cast it holding a weapon.

Is magic in TES, Verbal, Hand Movements, or Wands? In what form does magic come in TES games?

Has "no birthsigns" been confirmed? I've never read anything about it one way or the other. I'd imagine, if anything, they're just the equivalent of a perk that you choose near the beginning of the game.

Anyway, the only thing I'm certain that I don't like is the addition of children. I think pretty much every game is better off without them.

I like pretty much everything else I've heard. The removal of anything always seems to be in favor of the addition or tweaking of something else in a way that makes it necessary.

Bethesda have always said they approach every elderscrolls game as a new game.

The only thing that remains is the Lore.

The game mechanics develop along with technology, game fashion, and how Bethesda feel about introducing new ways to do things.

No attributes, for me no problem.

Imagine the uproar there was when Bethesda said that they were going to level individual skills by using them frequently and not by assigning points to skills at the character level up. How different that was from any RPG on the marketplace at the time.

Alot of gamers dont like change to mechanics, graphics yes, how you play no.

I personally am looking forward to Skyrim's game mechanics change and what I have heard so far sounds great.

Everyone agrees Morrowind was the best TES game.. EVERYONE.. So why has it changed so much?

They want to improve the games and make a new and fun way of playing Skyrim, but it looks like they've left out much of what made Morrowind great.
