Changing the combat music (playing on PC)

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 6:30 am

So I want to change the combat music that plays in New Vegas to some of my own personal choices, but putting the music file i want in the folder didn't do anything, as it didn't play in-game. Is there some other way to get the music I want working?

Also wasn't sure if this was the right forum to post this or not.

Did you put it in the sounds folder or the music folder?

What exactly are you trying to replace? The music that plays after you kill something or the music that plays when combat starts?

I don't know what to tell you, everything you did seems right to me (you put the stuff in the right place at least)

I've never tried to change any of the music in the game though.

I did a search on here and found one topic, with a guy that said he had to rename the files he wanted to use to that of the original files but thats just a pain in the ass it seems like haha. But I may have to do that

You have to use the name of the file you sre replacing for it to work. I did this to my friend's New Vegas when he left the house to pick up some White Castle. I replaced all of his music with Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up.

Still having issues even after changing all of the file names...maybe they need to be the same length as the originals?

If you doing replacers you'll have to rename them to the same names of the files your replacing. Otherwise the game won't know what to look for with out moding the ini files IIRC.
