Changing the settings in Realistic Leveling Mod

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:37 pm

I've cleared like 6 dungeons and I am still level 3 and it is very hard to find low level dungeons in OOO. When realistic leveling was activated it gave me a choice of how 5 relative speeds that skills increase.

Sorry to clutter the forum, but I don't fully understand what happens with mods. Can I just deactivate RL then reactivate it and pick another setting?

Thank you!

A nice thing with Realistic Leveling is that you can customize it via its ini. Open RealisticLeveling.ini in Notepad or similar, scroll down to:

; Set the overall skill progression rate. The progression rate is proportional
; to fSkillUseFactor^fSkillUseExp. Larger values mean skills will advance
; slower. For the default fSkillUseExp=1.5, the slowdown factors are;
; 1x = 0.35, 2x = 0.56, 3x = 0.73, 4x = 0.88, 5x = 1.02, 10x = 1.62

;setGS fSkillUseFactor 0.35

1x being the vanilla rate. OOO has it on c. 3x. You could perhaps try 2x, so change the setGS fSkillUseFactor value to 0.56, save - and you should be good to go.

Personally, I'm using Progress to handle the skill progression rate. Also customizable via an ini - you have complete control over each individual skill, plus it comes with some very nice addons etc. (I notice that I have vanilla rates in RL, but it's still Progress that determines the rate. A bit weirdly as RL is loading after Progress, but there you go.)
