Character Animation, Pose for Dead Bodies

Post » Fri Jun 12, 2015 10:09 am

Okay, so I am making a mod were I'd like place dead bodies of people in it, but I would them to be posed in a position such as one used for operating on them. My thoughts on this are that, the best way to do this would be to use an animation, and make them similar to how mannequins are made. The reason I think an animation would be best, it would make it so that the bodies will work with whatever mod is being used. Plus I want to keep it so that you can interact with them and add/remove items from them.

What I would like to know are there any already made animations out there that does this, that I can use? If not could, someone make it for me? Or at least can someone help me make it, as I really have no knowledge on where to even begin to work on this.

Or, is this not the best way to go for this and should I try something different?

I think your best bet is to make your own mesh. This sounds harder than it is. Use blender 2.49b with http://niftools.sourceforge.net/wiki/Blender and you can import body part meshes from your Morrowind cd into blender, arrange them to a pose you want, and then export as a single mesh. You can then use that mesh for an activator which you can hang scripts on. Again this sounds way more complicated then it is. It's not that hard to figure out, although it does require a bit of practice if you haven't used Blender or any other 3d modeling tool before. It is worth it though to learn Blender imo. Its ui is quite good, although people used to 3d studio max don't seem to be able to see that and can only wine about how it's not like 3d studio max. Hope this gives you a starting point.
