Character apparel customization in Skyrim?

Post » Sat Dec 26, 2009 12:12 pm

How much control do you want over how your character dresses in Skyrim?

I'm hoping for something like Morrowind. If it's like Fallout, I'm going to puke.

Morrowind level is probably the best Daggerfall is kind of extreme, Fallout is too low, I'd settle for Oblivion its good but could use improvement but Morrowind level would be perfect would be perfect

Yeah, I think that Daggerfall style would be a bit confusing. I do want capes and cloaks though.

The reason that DF's customization could be so extreme, was because the character's model was in 2D

lol; why even put the last 2 options? lol. but in all honesty, I don't want the customization to be "like Daggerfall" or "like morrowind"...it should be "Like Skyrim"

I'm obviously inclined to pick Daggerfall's level of complexity, complete with different colored bras and five different ways to undo your shirt, but it's not entirely necessary. Morrowind's would be fine - include cloaks and capes, though!

I think Morrowind has the right balance of customization. There are plenty of clothing and accessories to choose from, not too much as in Daggerfall, or too little like Oblivion. And I WANT CAPES/CLOAKS!

EDIT: Typo

I could see you being able to customly make your own clothes using different clothes.

Very high, sure, why not

Being able to create completely new characters adds to the replayability of the game as each playthrough is a unique experience

I'd like to be able to dye stuff or add accessories. Kinda dumb when every guy wearing iron armour looks exactly the same. Could paint some stuff on it, wipe some blood on it, add some fur, add a cloak, an engraving, a precious stone, a dead enemies femur, ect

Anything to add variety

Truthfully, making the right costume, color, clothing, etc. (and face generation) are all wastes for time for me. It's like opera - I understand the appeal, but just don't care for it.

Why would anyone want less customization (which is why I'm wondering why people would vote for Morrowind's options over Daggerfall's)? Due to clipping issues, I'm not sure what we'll see, but ideally, I want a very high level of customization, as in Daggerfall. My Morrowind and Oblivion characters generally look stupid without cloaks. I can't explain why, but they just do. Some armor sets just scream for a cloak.

The Skyrim customization level should be Skyrim level, seriously do not compare new games to the old ones, becuase if you get what you want all that you have is an expansion pack, I want them to do what they think is best and latter we should judge.

I am not saying we shouldn't post ideas, I am saying we should just post new ideas

Somewhere between Morrowind and Daggerfall would be good, but honestly it will probably be somewhere between Morrowind and Oblivion... just please nothing like Fallout!

The game is going to be similar there is nothing wrong with suggesting that some of the options should have the same customization level as previous ES games. Its not nothing to do with "skyrim" being "skyrim" <.<

I voted Daggerfall but would be happy with morrowind, as I miss my clothes peeking thru chinks in my armor, I miss gloves, and I would also like kilts, short robes, capes and tabards. The last 2 able to be worn over armor, a choice of emblems that could be placed on certain items would be nice also.

Remember guys, it takes away from other more important aspects of the game if they focus too much on character customization. This is a RPG after all, not barbie dress me up like some of the Oblivion mods do.

Yep, in the perfect world, I'd love to see Daggerfall's customization. But with the visual artifacts it would give, that won't happen. In that way, hurray for Morrowind! Wearing clothes under your armor, robes, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, etc. (scarves? capes?)

Regarding Fallout's. The Fallout series has never been about customization. They improved on that a little bit with Fallout 3, but the Elder Scrolls is well known on how you can outfit your play doll however you see fit. :)

Im going to enjoy those mods to no end. I picked Morrowind style to be realistic. Its not too much but more than Oblivion.

That reminded me of something I want to mention. Something I prefer about Oblivion's apparel customization is being able to see my weapons, arrows, rings, and amulets on my character, even when, in the case of weapons, not being used. Keep that, Bethesda.

Very high, I don't know why you'd want anything less. Your character is exactly that, YOURS. Make it be awesome!

I vote for a Loom Hero! mini-game where one is able to pick the fibers of their choice and weave anything from a sock to a plastic jumpsuit. :hubbahubba:
