Character back story

Post » Fri Sep 27, 2013 6:52 am

hello there my Name is Motoko, I am 21 & live in Scotland, I love The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim & also enjoyed playing Oblivion & Morrowind before it, I decided the other day out of sheer randomness at half 11 at night to wright a back story for my Character, this back story has been made so that my character (Me) could ether be the main protagonist of the Story or alternatively another person caught up in the same events as the Main Protagonist, I am currently saving up for a new PC so I can get into Modding Skyrim as I have yet not had the chance to do so, when the Mod is complete they will be a fully fleshed character that will be able to be the Dragonborn's follower with a fully fleshed Dialog & back story too boot, much of the characters back story I like to think is pretty Lore friendly & very much possible & keeps to the General Time line of events in the Elder Scrolls World, anyway if not I hope you can at least enjoy it as simply a nice piece of Writing, I openly am willing to accept criticism but please if you do can you make it constructive instead of just flaming for the sake of flaming, if any Modders out there are interested in contacting me about the modding side of this please feel free to leave a comment on here stating so & I will get back to you as soon as possible, well anyway I hope you Enjoy. xoxo

My true birthplace still remains a Mystery to me even to this day, when I was a baby I was found by a man named Crodil during a Hunting Trip in the Colovian Highlands in Cyrodiil, Crodil took Me back to his Home city of Bruma after asking around Chorrol if I was a missing child, after allot of deliberation Crodil decided to take Me into his home and raise me as his own.

Almost 6 years past and Crodil treat me as his own Daughter, he taught me how to Hunt, How to live off the land & how to prepare an animal after hunting, little did I know Crodil was preparing me for what would later come despite the turn of events to unfortunately befall Bruma, he knew there was something different about me compare to normal children but still he treat me with love & respect, I still thank him to this day, it is thanks to his wisdom I am still alive.

Shortly after my 6th birthday a great tragedy happened that would later be known as the Oblivion Crisis, as all the Citizens were doing Crodil & Myself Ran for the Church near the middle of town, on are way there a Dremora Soldier cornered us, Crodil with bravery and Honor took out his Hunting Knife & stood his ground, within the blink of an eye Crodil rushed forward at the Dremora lunging at it with all his mite, I could see the smirk on the Dremora’s face as it swung its giant great sword, like a butchers cleaver it chopped off Crodils arm in one fell swoop, before Crodil could even do anything the Dremora Ran its Blade threw his Stomach, with his final words Crodil told me to run & not to look back, before the tears could roll out of my eyes I turned my back and ran, despite that, I could still hear the sound of the Dremora swinging its great sword 1 last time to cleave Crodil’s head from his shoulders.

After I reached the church I soon found I was not welcome, before now I had not had much contact with any other person apart from Crodil, whenever I had said hello to people from the garden or in the streets they simply did not reply & pretended they didn’t hear me, at the time I just thought maybe I didn’t say it loud enough and they truly did not here me, when I knocked on the doors of the church a Bruma Guard answered, he took 1 look at me and you could see it in his eyes, he swallowed sharply and told me “we do not allow your kind in the church, you will have to find somewhere else to hide”, this was the first time I realised I was not like everyone else but in the heat of the moment I did not take time to pause & think about it, instead I ran, threw the burning buildings and chaos in the streets I found a way over the cities walls, the fall the other side could have killed me but luckily I survived.

For 3 days I wondered lost in the wilderness, eventually I came across an Alied ruin, not knowing the danger that could have befell me I went inside seeking shelter, after a short wile I found a small Bandit encampment, all the bandit’s were dead, from there stab wounds and severed limbs I thought it possible that someone from the well know Fighter’s Guild or Blackwood company had come threw & cleared them out, despite the looming smell off death I decided to stay, the bandit’s had bedrolls to sleep in, logs & flint to make a fire, fresh supplies of water & sacks of Mildly fresh Fruit, vegetables & preserved meat.

despite what had happened for some reason I did not cry nor did I sit wondering what to do, a strange sense of responsibility cam over me, in the next few days I dug holes outside & berried the bodies of the Bandit’s, I hunted nearby Deer & Wolfs for Meat & Hides to make clothes & Picked Fruit, Roots & Herbs from the Forest that surrounded the ruins and used buckets to get water from a small dwelling of water I had found.

10 years passed of me living in them ruins, the ensuing chaos that engulfed all of Tamriel meant I was quite Isolated, I was un disturbed by the rest of the world and part of me liked it that way, my rejection at doors of the Bruma church left me sour about the prospect of other people, something in me though was curious about the world, I started to read the maps I had found long ago in the Bandits gear, from what I could tell I had somehow unknowingly slinked all the way past Chorrol into the Great Forest somewhere above Skingrad, in the next few years to come I made regular trips to Skingrad, I found a trader there that bought my Hides & some of my Meat, with the money I made I managed to by gear to travel, backpacks, containers for water, sack’s for food, and better made clothing to ware.

After 4 years of trading things in Skingrad and putting of my move I finally decided to leave the ruins I had called home for most of my childhood and set off toward the province of Hammerfell, when I arrived in Hammerfell I past threw many towns, from Stonemoor to Riverpoint I learned more & more about Redguard Culture as I passed threw each town, after about a year of working odd jobs in towns and Living off the land I found my-self in the city of Skaven, the people here were much more serious then those of the town folk, after a few days of getting my bearings & sleeping in a small In I found I came across a trader wanting to Hire people to escort him & his caravan of good to the city of Taneth, I remember the exact words he said as at the time it made me laugh, he said “hey you there creepy looking woman with the weird eyes, you look mean fancy helping me get to Taneth”, the merchant was paying well so I agreed to help him on his travels, he hired 2 other people to help him as well, a tall Rough looking Nord that didn’t speak much and a Strange Cat man that I later came to learn was part of a race known as the Kahjiit, the trip went quite smoothly considering, we were attacked once by Bandit highwaymen but my years of Hunting in the wilds made them easy to dispatch, with the help of the Nord & Kahjiit we easily took out the bandits & made it safely to Taneth.

In the ensuing years I took on multiple jobs for local traders, from debt collecting to so called arranging business I managed to make allot of money, after a few years I was finally approached by a strange man in a Tavern, he told me that he had herd about me & that he could use a “Gall like me” on his crew, he offered riches I hadn’t ever dreamed of before so I promptly took him up on his offer, I later found out I had joined up with a Pirate crew, we set out to sea after he recruited a few more people from Taneth in the unseeing days.

I had never been on the Sea Before, it took me a few days to find my feat and finally adapt to living on a boat, the older crew mates were rough on the other new members but they seemed to avoid me, only the captain talked to me, the other men all seemed to avoid me for some reason, at night I could hear them whispering about my eyes & pale skin, a vampire they called me, despite this the captain seemed confident in me & in the years to come I proved that him taking me on was the best thing he could have done, we raided many ships & towns all over the coast line, from Hammerfell as far north as High Rock and all the way as south as the Summerset isles, in the next 30 years I went from lowly Cabin girl to being head of my own ship in a small fleet under are original captain that we now called Admiral Crimson-Sails due to the Red Sails we had on are Boats.

A year after we had became the dominant Pirate Force in the western Sea’s something happened that changed the face of are operations, are Admiral foretold a great war between the newly formed Aldmeri Dominion & the Empire, we never questioned what he told us captains and we conveyed the message to are crews, we had noticed the growing hostilities in the sea’s, with the large armadas of Imperial & Aldmeri vessels Roaming the Sea’s we decided to mainly lay low, using are vast amounts of Money, supplies & small army of Men & women we made a small town on a island west of High Rock, every now and then we would send out a few small vessels to Highjack Supply Vessels from the Imperial armies wile keeping activity to a minimum not to stir things up too much and avoid un wanted attention from the legions war vessels.

In the next 30 years are small island camp became a Town, only known among the likes of Pirates we became a safe haven for Vagabonds, Pirates & Bandits alike, self sustaining from fishing & hunting like normal lore abiding people with the odd ship raid here & there most of the men were becoming use to living on land and kind of liked the idea of a place were they could call home wile being around people that shared there views on the world, we had formed a small strange governments made up from are Admiral as are main King and the Captains of his crew and many other crews that had come to live with us as his Lord’s although we were more like his enforcers, at the end of the day are rules were simple, you only stole from those that could not be counted as among us, you were to NEVER steal from a fellow member of are people other wise we would hunt you down and kill you publicly, there was to be no Murder, you may openly challenge someone to a Fight to the death and they had the right to say yes or no to your challenge, although it become a pride thing amongst most people and allot of others wouldn’t want to sail with those who refused a challenge, but the rules were the rules & if the person said no you were not to pursue it any further, there was also to be no [censored], Extortion, of any other thing that may otherwise destabilise are society, to do so would result in a sentence of death.

In the 4th Era Year 94 are great leader King Crimson-sails foretold the moons disappearing and told us not to worry as they will eventually re-appear, after many many years passing and there being no war that he foretold people were starting to doubt his mind, hell even the Idea of the Moons disappearing sounded crazy to most people but use captains that had served under him trusted him as he had never steered us wrong in the past, so in the next few years we did as was needed of us, we killed all those that slandered his name & controlled the masses of are Bandit nation with Fear & fighting skills, finally the foretold day came, it was the 4th Era Year 98 and the two moons of Nirn Masser & Secunda vanished from the Skies, after this all the people of are island came together stronger then ever, are leader had told us of this day & also reassured us that the Moons would return, so wile the entire of Tamriel was in panic we held strong and remained confident.

50 years past and many of are captains had past and new leaders had come to power, only myself and are Leader King Crimson-Sails remained of are original crew, it seemed I had came far from them days on the sea’s with a small crew of 12 men, year 149 of the 4th Era are King Named me as his representative & air to his throne, in the unseeing years this caused allot of trouble, the other captains all wanted there claim to more riches & eventually the throne & now I was above all other captains & rightful successor to are Kings Throne, I did what I could to calm the feuds between the people but it seemed as if it was becoming more then just mere skirmishes of my forces could handle, the year was 155 of the 4th Era in which the 1st attempt was made on the throne, Grag Bogal-Mashal one of the Captains lead an army of people on the hall of King Crimson-Sails, the Kings Guards & my Men managed to fight them off, we killed most of there forces and swayed the tide of the rebellion, unfortunately this was just the first of what was to come, 2 years later the other 6 captains formed a coup on King Crimson-Sails.

My men lay dead behind us & the Hall of King Crimson-Sails burns with bright orange fails reaching to the heavens, I alone manage to get the King out of the Hall & escort him to a boat at the docks, when we arrive there we are ambushed by a group of 10 of the captains men, me & the King fight back to back for are lives, we won the fight but in the battle my King, the man I called captain all them years ago took an axe to the side, I quickly lift him and rush us onto a small boat and set sail, unfortunately Crimson Sails was no more, it was barely a day before he past away, in that moment I cried as I had never cried before, everything I had been threw, the loss of my original father Crodil & now a man I looked up to as a father figure had died, I could not contain my emotions, after hours upon hours of my grieving I finally stopped crying, but I was not the same.. or rather I did not feel the same, I felt numb, empty, truly alone, for over 100 years now I had not known what loneliness was, I sat for days thinking back to them days in the Alied ruins, my eyes red from tears, my body weak from starvation I finally found the courage to push Captain Crimson-sails body into the ocean, “this is were he would have wanted to die, at sea in the middle of the ocean” I thought to myself, but what was to be of me, I was defeated, I made no attempt to find land, I simply laid down on the boats floor & accepted that I was to die out here at sea, I let the waves take me were ever they wanted with not even a whimper of resistance.

After what seemed like a century I found myself washed up on the shores of High Rock’s northern beaches, a small Breton girl found me and soon after a couple of people took me away, they took me to there home just outside of the city of North point, in the next few weeks I was to find that somehow I had been drifting on that same boat for 16 years, like some sort of a dream I still do not know what happened & how 16 years passed, I started to work for the family that had taken me in, the gave me a small shack on there land & I hunted & cooked for them, I soon found out despite the humble living still happening so north up in High Rock that the Great War Captain Crimson-sails had foretold all them years ago started 2 years ago, I managed to sit the war out as I lived my simple life telling stories of my adventures on the sea’s to the families daughter & tending to the needs of the family that had taken me in.

4th Era year 188 I was still living my humble life, the once small girl that found me on that beach 15 years ago was now a blossoming 20 year old woman and her parents were getting older, the father retired from his days as a Merchant in North point & the mother a caring & loving wife proud to see her young girl all gown up, the great war had ended & we all had stayed relatively unaffected by the trouble it had caused in the rest of Tamriel, unfortunately not all was to stay peaceful, one simple day me & the families Daughter went into the city of North Point, it was there that someone finally noticed that my eyes were different, normally when I went into the city to pick up supplies I wore a hood and kept my head down, but that day I was happy & me & the families daughter named Clara were having fun shopping for clothes & supplies.

A bunch of people started whispering and the families daughter soon prompted that we should leave, as we were leaving town a mass of people started to shout are way almost chanting “kill the vampire”, we quickly ran back to the house and told the mother & father what had happened in the city, after the mother, father & daughter arguing for a short wile there was a nock at the door, there daughter sneakily looked out the window without the people outside noticing, there was an entire mob of people outside the house, with swords & axes they knocked again but louder this time, it was obvious what had to be done so I went to open the door & hand myself to the Mob, before I could do so the father shouted “wait stop”, they gave me a bag full of supplies and the mother quickly rushed me & the Daughter to the stables out the back wile the father answered the door to stall the mob, “Clara will take you south toward Normar Heights on the horses, from there you are on your own and Clara will return with Both Horses, I’m sorry, that’s the best we can do”, me & the Families Daughter Rode off as fast as we could, after a few hours of fast riding we arrived just north or Normar Heights, the families Daughter simply said sorry and before she could say anymore I told her that everything will be all right and ran off on foot.

I spent the next 23 Years wondering from province to province not daring to call any place home, I travelled from Highrock down to Hammerfell, with much trouble in the region I fled to back to were my Journey had began in Cyrodil, I spent some time going from city to City in the region but the war had changed the land & being so many years ago it did not feel like home anymore, I took the time to re visit the same ruins I had called home as a child, when I reached the entrance to the ruins I could not find the courage to step inside, I had left that part of my life behind & the 16 years I spent drifting in the depths of the ghost sea made me want to forget all that had happened and start a fresh new life, I then left Cyrodil & spent a short wile prowling the Jerral Mountain range.

After a wile I found myself in the middle of an ensuing Skirmish between some imperial Forces & what must have been some sort of rebel’s, it wasn’t long before I found myself surrounded by imperial soldiers, they must have thought I thought I was with the Rebel’s as they quickly asked me to surrender & lay down my arm’s, as I sat on my knees in the mud in the midst of the Captured rebel Soldiers I thought to myself, I might as well accept my death now and just not say anything, they then packed us onto the carts & proceeded to head toward the Province of Skyrim.

The font is both too small and a difficult font to read without straining my eyes a little.
