Character Backstorys for Skyrim

I was wondering how you assumed your character got caught in the checkpoint(If you use this piece for your story), what his/hers alleged crimes were, ect ect.

For me, Arisch, Nord Warrior was returning home from Morrowind, and got stopped at the check point. The asked him to pay a fee, and he told them to screw off, and they got angry, and basically he killed a few of the empires men, so he was locked up with the rebels.

Sorry for the terribly written explanation. I haven't put too much thought/work into it, but soon will hopefully take the time to right a back story in depth. Anyways, I'd like to hear yours.

Lehdras Noldorin (bit o' Dunmer, bit o' Noldor) is basically a 200 year old Dunmer, he fought against the Thalmor in the Great War alongside the Imperials as a mercenary. After the White Tower Concordat was signed, he lost faith in the Empire, and he was also a devout Talos worshiper. So he spent a lot o' time doing some rather unsavory things, mainly theft, but also assassinations for the Morag Tong, as well as the Dark Brotherhood of Morrowind. He was already wanted, guards caught him right at the Skyrim-Morrowind border, and the rest is history.
