Character Build Depository -Spoilers-

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:46 pm

Since the perk chart is now more or less 100% confirmed, maybe we have a sticky thread for us to collect our builds?Try to avoid posting just stats; explain your reasoning and roleplay elements, as well as general gameplay mechanics you look forward to messing around with. Perhaps a bit later, once we get more information on perks per level, etc we can do beginning-middle-endgame builds.

Try to avoid quoting huge chunks.

-

Technical Sniper  :gun:

Gameplay: Obviously long distance, but I also follow the general rule of carrying a sidearm and small melee weapon with me at all times. Realism is the goal, overall. *ignores half of the Fallout Universe*

Strength - 4

I really find the new modding elements to be exciting. Though customizing melee weapons sounds a bit out of style for a long distance specialist, I really don't want to miss out on anything that increases immersion for me, which includes making my character feel like an extension of me.

Perks:

Armorer; because mistakes happen and I want to look awesome when they do.

Blacksmith; for when life gives you lemons and you need to execute someone without wasting ammo. Filthy Raiders.

Perception -9

Being a one shot-one kill believer, this is the highest stat upon starting. The perks in Perception make this an amazing stat to boost (to be fair to Bethesda, all the stats have amazing stuff!). I'm really happy they moved Sniper out of Agility; it adds something to the SPECIAL choices that usually just required someone to have Perception if they wanted to use Energy Weapons.

Perks:

Rifleman; for all the right reasons. This looks really amazing.

Locksmith; for later. Being a stealthy sniper means you need to be able to get behind, above, and generally confound your target.

Night Person; for later. It just... meshes. I may avoid the second rank since it is somewhat weird I am suddenly granted absolute night vision.

Sniper; well, you know.

Penetrator; too good of a theme to pass up. A true master sniper!

Endurance - 1

Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. I'm allergic to chocolates. OW MOM HE HIT ME. But, seriously, I try not to take damage. With the emphasis on sneaking and using silent weaponry, this build doesn't call for much in the way of defense.

Perks:

Toughness; a useful perk considering it is rank 1. May end up maxing this out as the thematic "toughening" my character will go through as he treks the Boston Wasteland.

Aqua Boy; to think about. I love, love the idea of crawling out of the water and ambushing my targets from an unexpected direction. Though, I wish the perk ranks were reversed.

Charisma - 1

Mama always said I was a special kid with a face only she could look at for more than five seconds. ("HEEEEEY YOU GUYS!" ) I'm a sniper. My wife was my spotter. Beyond that, my neighbors thought I was weird. Later, as I learn the hard truths of the Boston Wasteland, I'll put some points here.

Perks:

Cap Collector; I like to sell things. I kind of wish this perk was a bit higher up, since it allows me, with very little specialization, to buy and sell high. With a face like this, I'm lucky they don't shoot me!

Lone Wanderer; without a doubt will need this, if only thematically. Plus, what a great perk!

Intelligence - 5

With all the alone time I'm getting without friends, my character is pretty smart! Healing yourself, customizing gunpowder-based weapon, getting into places you shouldn't... oh, the places I will go (and kill Raiders)!

Perks:

Medic; pretty great perk. I can imagine my character taking a bullet right as he downs the last Raider and needing to patch himself up.

GUN NUT; my most favorite perk so far. Need. Desire. Want. Will kill for the right part.

Hacker; Ashley Madison can't hide from me! Plus, on a lore level, hacking terminals gives you access to so much more information!

Scrapper; give me your bike, loser! I need it for my go-cart. Strangely. More stuff = more custom weapons = more fun!

Science; eventually, for the customization. As a silent sniper type, flashy, even suppressed energy weapons do not call to me.

Agility - 6

Interestingly, Agility doesn't need to be that high for a sneak build, since the Sneak Perk is lower on the list. As points accumulate, the higher-tier ones become awfully powerful. Between Intelligence and Agility, it's a throw up to what I'll get to 9 first.

Perks:

Gunslinger; not necessarily needed, but plays to the theme of my character. In a tight spot, the Big Iron On My Hip will be more than enough to convince Raiders the bull has horns.

Commando; as the necessity for higher power guns and customization comes into play, my character may learn how to become a one-man wrecking crew with automatic weapon sniping. The horror.

Sneak; all the ranks. More ranks. Needs ten more ranks so I can fill them. Now you see me, now you actually never did and BOOM. HEADSHOT.

Mister Sandman; the bonus to suppressed weaponry damage is too good not to take. Hello, is it me your looking foooo-*pew**clunk*

Ninja; for later. I demand the power of the fabled shadow warriors... I BECAME KUNG FURY.

Luck - 2

Really, my character isn't going to use criticals that much. One shot, one kill. Luck? I have skill.

Perks:

Fortune Finder; if you've got the money, honey... well, I'm going to shoot you.

Scrounger; my rifle demands bullets. I FIND 500 ROUNDS DO YOU KNOW WHAT I CAN DO WITH 500 ROUNDS, PUNY MORTALS?

Ever since I've seen the plasma sniper rifle in the E3 reveal I've been planning an energy weapon sniper build, with a side of explosives.

S-3 Just for Armorer. Not really sure of all the possibilities, all I know is I wanna craft a helmet like the NCR ranger's helmet in New Vegas, except cooler (;

P-6 Pickpocket: Planting grenades and mines in people's pockets and quietly sneaking away was something I enjoyed in the previous games. It's always an instant kill (;
Demolition Expert: To increase explosive damage.
Sniper: For the headshots.

E-1 I don't plan on getting hit, but I may raise it to 3

C-1 My bullets do the talking

I-6 Science!: To craft energy weapons. I should be getting decent experience as well so that's a plus. I don't really want any other perks in this tree except for hacking, maybe.

A-6 Sneaking- If I can't kill someone head on I'll just walk right by. Also it'll help me plant explosives on people.
Mr. Sandman: To make sure people never wake up again

L-5 Any perk in luck is just a luxury, I should be able to get most of my crits from sneaking alone. But we shall see.

Sneak death machine charmer completionist build:

S 1

P 4 (pickpocket, rifleman, lockpick)

E 1

C 8 (lady killer, inspirational)

I 4 (gun nut, hacking)

A 7 (sneak, mr. sandman, ninja)

L 3 (bloody mess)

The goal will be to sneak attack one-shot most of the enemies, pick/hack/pickpocket everything and everyone and pass all speech checks.

The weapon of choice will be silenced non-automatic rifle for sniping and silenced short range weapon for close combat (silenced shotgun should be in game, as seen in E3 video crafting part)

Rough sneak attack damage calculation:

350% normal damage (Ninja rank 3)

+50% normal damage (Mr. Sandman rank 3 for silenced weapons)

*115% (Bloody Mess rank 3)

*115% (Lady Killer rank 3, females only)

= 529% normal damage to females and 460% normal damage to other targets

If the bonus of Mr.Sandman stacks multiplicatively, the numbers will be even more ridiculous (793% and 660%)

I might go for a melee build for the second playthrough to reach the utterly ridiculous multipliers (1000% for Ninja rank 3 is base for melee), but that build will not have enough points for charisma and I want to pass those speech checks first time through.

Hope you enjoyed !

Might help OP if you link that site that lets you build your character, showing Perks and all.

This is the starting build for my very first character, Jacob.

Scientific Engineer: Jacob is a very intelligent person who is incredibly tech savvy. He has great knowledge in crafting weapons mods and explosives, and is very fond of energy weapons. He also has a background of chemistry experience developed by creating medicines and drugs for the benefit of those in need during his service in the military.

Stats and Perks:

Strength: 3

Jacob is not necessarily strong, but he has enough muscle to craft protective gear. He spent much time developing damage resistant armor to the point where he can come up with improved schematics for specially protective armor.

Perks: Armorer

Perception: 5

While he preferred to develop chemical concoctions for medical purposes, Jacob also spent time developing chemical formulas for other reasons. Jacob secretly liked to watch objects explode so he learned to develop explosives to blow up random objects in his yard for entertainment. If not with explosives, he would take pot shots at cans in his yard with his favorite Laser Rifle.

Perks: Rifleman, Awareness, Demolition Expert

Endurance: 4

Through the years of self drug testing, Jacob's body seems to have become more tolerant of drugs and medicines. Negative side effects are less minor, while he still receives the good benefits of the drugs.

Perks: Chem Resistant

Charisma: 3

If there was ever a time in which the stereotype of nerds being socially awkward was true, it would sort of apply here. While Jacob does not struggle with conversation, he also is not much of a Casanova.

Intelligence: 8

A gifted and smart individual, Jacob has made many scientific achievements. During his time as an engineer for the US Military He has helped many people with his medical expertise, he developed codes for sophisticated security systems, and has developed many different weapon modifications for troops. He even helped create advanced software for robots in production of weapons and vehicles, increasing efficiency by 50%.

Perks: Medic, Hacker, Scrapper, Science!, Chemist, Robotics Expert

Agility: 2

While Jacob's strong suit is in his technical and chemical knowledge, he falls short in reflexes. A bit clumsy, he lacks the speed that many others would have. However, he developed the ability to shoot weapons in between his time working in engineering and medicine.

Perks: Commando

Luck: 3

Jacob is not someone who relies on luck to get by. He believes in using his immense knowledge to complete tasks and overcome obstacles.

Eventually, Jacob becomes familiar with power armor and nuclear weapons during his time in the wastes and starts to spread his skills out even further.

Here are some dumb ideas I have come up with.

"The Redliner" - combine nerd rage, lone wanderer, toughness, and chemist (for long Med-X duration) for a character that is always under 20% health, but takes very little damage and rages a lot

"The Luckiest Ghoul in the World" - You are a ghoul that looks like a human. Max END and LCK, keep INT at 1. Take ghoulish, cannibal, lead belly, and iron fist. Put all other points into luck perks only, nothing else. Only use humanoid meat and health regeneration to heal yourself and only use unarmed attacks to fight with.

"The Running Man" = Max END and AGI, take moving target, action boy, and adamantium skeleton (to prevent your legs from becoming crippled). You can only move by sprinting, never walk or run. If you run out of stamina, stop moving until you can sprint again. Never use VATS or cover, just keep running and gunning.

My guy will be a tinkerer who rolls with improvised high-tech weapons (laser musket with reflex sight as well as explosives) and armor; no sneak, no VATS (other than for triggering the Demo Expert 4 perk). No defensive boosts other than crafted armor, so should be fun even in normal (don't like bullet sponges).

The TinkererStrength 3 - Armorer(4)Perception 5 - Rifleman(5), Demolition Expert(4)Endurance 1Charisma 3 - Lone Wanderer(3).Intelligence 10 - Scrapper(2), Hacker(3), Science(4), Robotics Expert(3)Agility 3Luck 3 - Scrounger(4), Bloody Mess(3 or 4)Req. Level: 36

I really hope the bobbleheads don't increase attributes permanently. That would make it a nightmare to set up builds.

Strength: 3

  • 4 points in armorer for making really good quality medium armor. Not sure how much i'll be using power armor.

Perception: 4

  • 5 Points in Rifleman to utilize that sweet armor penetration and cripple chance on my semi auto rifles and shotguns. These will be used on sneak attacks and versus hardened targets.
  • 1 point in Awareness to make sure i'm using the best weapon for the situation at hand.
  • 4 ranks in Lockpick to pick locks and get loot.

Endurance: 3

  • 3 points in Lifegiver for extra health and minor health regeneration.

Charisma: 2(3 or 4)

  • 3 points in Lone wanderer or Attack dog depending on how much i like dogmeat.

Intelligence: 6

  • 4 Points in Gun nut to create conventional Rifle, Shotgun, Smg and Assault rifle varieties.
  • 4 Points in Science to create Energy Rifle, Shotgun, Smg, Flamer and Assault rifle varieties.
  • 4 Points in Medic to keep my health up and rads down.
  • 2 Points in Scrapper to make the most out of salvage.

Agility: 7

  • 5 points in Commando to make dealing with swarms easier due to the stagger chance and hip fire accuracy increase on automatic shotguns flamers, smg's and Assualt rifles. Will also most likely use these weapon types on lower resistance targets.
  • 4 Points in Sneak to enable a stealth play-style and avoid [censored] mines.
  • 3 Points in Mr sandman for extra damage on silenced sneak attacks.
  • 3 Points in Ninja for devastating sneak attacks.
  • 2 Points in Action boy to increase the effectiveness of vats and sprinting.

Luck: 3(8)

  • 3 Points in Better critical's to enhance Critical damage both in and out of vats.
  • 3 Points in Critical Banker to increase the effectiveness of vats.
  • 3 Points in Grim reapers sprint to better utilize vats.

Requires: level 65

Iron Fist (Non-Vats Brawler)

S - 9 (to 10 later)

5/5 Iron Fist

4/4 Armorer

3/3 Blacksmith

3/3 Rooted

3/3 Pain Train

P - 1

E - 7

5/5 Toughness

3/3 Life Giver

3/3 Adamantium Skeleton

C - 3

3/3 Lone Wanderer

I - 6 (to 10 later)

4/4 Medic

3/3 Nuclear Phycisist

3/3 Nerd Rage

A - 6

2/2 Action Boy

3/3 Moving Target

L - 3 (6 Later)

4/4 Bloody Mess

3/3 Bloody Criticals

Total Level - 62 (I don't know the Soft Cap yet, so if this is too much I'll trim the Fat).

The idea is to maximize tankyness, unarmed damage, and PA use. Nerd Rage was right next to the power core perk, and it should make you near immortal with all that other stuff at low HP.

Return to Fallout 4
