Character Copies

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 8:34 pm

As many may know, you can save Xbox files on a USB stick. On my computer I have a program that can read the Xbox save files, which I use to make backups. But I was wondering, if I could make a copy of a character, then save it as another character. That way I could have another high leveled character without having to play many hours just to level up. I could even copy it to another friends profile.

I have tried this yet, because I don't know if it would be considered hacking (or something of the like), and if I could get banned for it. I'd like to know whether others would think of this as cheating/hacking.

It would almost definitely count as manipulating game files.

I agree with that. It is very openly available to everyone, and there are official programs to backup save files. So literally ANYONE can do it.

Then again I actually don't even know if it works. I'll try it with another profile. One that's offline, so I don't get banned.

Why bother manipulating game files and possibly getting banned cause of it when there are numerous easy ways to farm xp, some that don't even require you to stay at the xbox?

Not sure, but I know that on PS3 the save file is locked to the user that created it... it won't work if you try to copy it from a USB onto another user.
