character creation and personalization changes

Bethesda should really look at Dragon Age's character creation system it had one of the best i've ever seen.

That's a joke right...? They had less options than Oblivion in that game.

The best CC i've seen in a game is Aion's. Over 40 hairstyles, all the sliders you could possibly want for facial proportions, as well as sliders for body proportions like arm and leg length/width, waist and torso thickness so that you could make character's fat, skinny or muscular, and a height slider. Though the height slider was a little OTT, allowing you to create midget characters... and my god there were a lot of them running around...

Even the 'option' to select your origin story in DA:O wasn't even an option most of the time. Humans only had one origin story, elves had two, dwarves two, and mage characters only had the one. It was a cool idea, and I loved all the origin storylines, but it was hardly an option.

No it wasnt a joke people looked unique and different unlike oblivion where everyone looked the same dragon age had a great amount of diversity in their faces which is what i meant.

It's the facial hair and different angles in dialogue.

Which brings us to...

Facial hair why wasn't it in Oblivion?!

I always thought the toturial dungeon from Ob was fun like hell. :o

It was pretty fun. Once.

Whoa. Haven't played it yet, but I find myself having serious doubts about it being better than the one in TES2 OR Battlespire. I'll try youtube... edit: Well it does seem good! Of course you cant know much about skills etc based on that. Good thing to have choice from many voices. I also liked how your starting appearance depended on your background. Much like in M&B. Still, it's only the improved technology that is to thank for some of the improvements. Let's see if I'm able to actually make an interesting character in it. The game's been on my to buy-list for a long time, but now I'm busy with Risen. You can bet I'm playing Dragon age through a couple of times. Mass Effect was one of the best RPGs I've played.

I would like to see makeup options, and (for purchase, maybe not at character creation) piercings. It was kind of an odd world full of men and women of various races, and nobody had any make up or earings (by default). Orcs would look pretty bad (in the positive sense) with some feather'n'tooth earings.

Also, the number of games where you can colour your nails? I could probably count them on one hand.

Beards, obviously, and its been mentioned, but I just want to underline the idea :)

It would also be nice if the game supported different body types (height and weight) within the races, so you could have a beer-bellied Nord, or a Breton caster that really looks like a bookworm. Saints Row 2, of all games, had a pretty broad character editor, one of the games high points to be sure. Champions Online is no slouch either.

The amount of choice. I'm not sure if this guy on the video even goes into Dis/Advantages, but you get the idea.

I lol'd.

*: Edited to be less "spammy"

With that said, I'd be satisfied with a functional fagegen.

Blame the ESRB for that. It is perfectly understandable though. Nudity raises the game's age rating, and that's fair play.

You mean the amount of skills?

It ain't just about the amount of skill; its the following:
*It that one can control the amount of attribute point to be distributed
*Make one likable or hated by the social ladder (nobles, normal people, underground/thieves, scholars and merchants)
*The control max amount of health gain per level
*http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:ClassMaker#Special_Advantages and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:ClassMaker#Special_Disadvantages (basically power-up, upgrades and weakness; use to balance the skill advancement. Too much advantages and its hard road ahead. That is why one should use disadvantages to balance things out, or for role-play experiences.)
*There four tiers of where the skills goes, with the top three tiers help contribute to leveling up the PC (primary, major, minor, misc)
*Dice roll just to give that "natural" like attribute (so it won't be like in the 10s)
*Hell lot of bonus points added in skills and attributes along the way of creating the character.

I would say this is best character creation in TES Series in terms of stats and skill base on control of how unique the PC is and I would like it that it will contribute in the future in some ways.

They should make it possible to change appearance later on in the game,
Barbers, Hairdressers: Change hair
A person at the Mages guild: Changes Facial features but not hair
Also scars should be included, there were scars in Dragon Age Origins

Take the best from Dragon Age CC, like beards, and the best from Oblivion CC, like hair length and the amount of sliders, and we'd have the best CC to date.

It was hard to randomly roll an attractive female in OB. The most you were likely to hit was with a wood elf. I think aging would be good You could then involve plot devices to stop aging or reverse it. Say if you were a mage you could use a super restorative spell. If a rogue or fighter you could buy a highly priced elixir or go on a mission to steal or use an artifact that grants eternal youth or a second chance. Back to the CC idea. In terms of looks it can be rounded up with more hairstyles, tattoos, scars and piercing, ability to change body shape and being able to create an ugly/handsome character made easier. Dragon Age showed us how to apply backgroud to the mix where you actually have a home and relatives even though they may not even like you. This is where the leap would be. Being able to choose which area you're from etc. You can choose immigrant where your background has less in game connections if you want but it would be cool to be able to go back to a nice farm house on a mountainside, walk in and have an old lady go,'By the Nine! It's been so long since Ive seen you munchkin. Sit down, have some cake....' etc.

I would like to see a fix in the character creator. I hate how when I get the face shaped just the way I want it, if I go to alter the skin color or age, it completely reshapes the face entirely.

Wish the beards were better, they were just a mess in Oblivion
Option to cut hair, add tattoos, facial hair, piercings (maybe?)
Changing body size is ambitious because of the way Bethesda made the armour and clothing in Oblivion, it'd require a completely different approach. Say if you're on PC and using a body mod that makes you bigger, if you equip some vanilla armour it won't fit your new body it will look the same as it always did

Good point but did Fable not do it? I would think that programming wise it wouldn't be the hardest thing. Alternatively you could just stagger appearance change. Say no changes until Strength is at 50 and then 100. Or 25, 50, 75, 100 etc. Or you could switch physical change off.

if they use the fallout system where u can choose from diff options and then touch up on themn a bit if u like would be wht i hope they do. though if they limit ur options then they better make the options u have pretty damn good, and making dark elves look like elves with pointy ears and red eyes and face paint and dark elf hair, not blue humans, or nords having their own type of facepaint and hairstyles and beards. instead of taller, uglier, clean shaven imperials. also lots of the time, i cant tell if im talking to a breton or an imperial. regarding aging and stuff like gaining weight, id rather keep tht in fable. Being able to get haircuts, piercings, and diff body paint would be a good addition for sure though.
