Character Creation copyright infrigement

Hello,

I'm a big fan of deep visual character customizations and inevitably I ended up trying games such as Champions Online and DC Universe Online.

With all the possibilities of the character creation tools, I had my share of self-made characters - but I also wanted to play with existing fictional characters and so did many other players.

Here's an example:

Using the tools and pieces provided BY the character creation toolkit, me and others made Spawns, spider-man, venoms, etc... but then we received warnings of copyright infrigement and the ones who refused to delete their characters got their account banned.

Finally, my question is;
Will it be a big deal if we end up making characters that has a stunning ressemblance to other game's characters? (TF2 demoman for example)

Okay, if we can't make someone WHO LOOKS A LITTLE BIT like someone from some other game, then that is pure bullcrap

Due to Brink's unique art style and the options available, I don't think we'll be able to get close enough to warrant any consequences like that. Close, perhaps, but not that close. From what I remember of those games you mentioned, you could just about make exact replicas of existing characters. Not so in Brink.

And I'm certainly not going to let anyone stop me from making my tribute characters. :flame:

Just go the route of Family Guy, South park, Robot Chicken and put a lil note in ur character info that says "any likeness to any actual person or character is due solely to chance" or whatever they write haha

Sorry but we don't allow legal issues from other sites or even current legal issues regarding this or any site to be discussed here.

And nobody on this forum would have the legal answer for you anyway.

So, I'm closing this. Sorry.
