Hahaha well that doesn't matter, it's still there and you know it's there. Plus it's nice to see when you load up your pc.
Think of it as a photo of a good memory. You know it's there, even when you have it put away, but when you look at it, you enjoy it :P

I'm not saying abilities won't make the game different, but you don't need to see them, plus you unlock them as you level up buying the ones you can afford, seeing them before release will be pointless and would completely ruin the surprise for me. Also where it will make the gameplay slightly different, the developers have already said that no matter which combination of perks you choose for your character they won't make him any better, too help balance between high and low level players, so there's no need to plan.

ruin the surprise?

then don't look!

Personally, I want to know what abilities are coming so I pick the right abilities early on.

Think of it this way if they release any creator any one, it's like knowing every present your going to get on Christmas. It's just not fun becides picking abilities should be the fun thing you do after you level if you know everything in advance what fun it is. "Oh I'm going to take this skill because it's on my must have skill list so I can be a awesome solider." I'm not saying having a idea of what you want is bad it's just not good to have every single skill planned out. I just think it's more fun that once the game comes out we can look at skill and all the other stuff. I say there shouldn't be any creators coming out for Brink

... then don't look at it... simple

I don't celebrate xmas... i'm not a corporate or religious puppy... I don't care about the "surprise"

when I'm leveling up is the wrong time to find out that ability x I took at level 3 was a wasted slot I'll never use. There are no respecs that I'm aware of.

Whenever their is a character creator in any game I spend a stupid amount of time fiddling with the settings, especially if other people are going to see said character. So I would love a character creator on the site that would be great. Give me plenty of time to figure out what I want my character to look like because I know full well I will want to just jump into the game on the first day and then regret my haste to not make the perfect character. I know I can make more characters but I just want to get the first one right is all.

Seeing them before the release won't be pointless but its true it would ruin the surprise. I don't care about surprise, unless its Richard Ham or Paul Wedgwood arriving at my front door telling me I get to help beta Brink. That would be a welcome surprise.

Abilities are not about making you better but about giving you more options and ways to play the game.

BTW I have a thread about this topic so why are we having it in the character creator thread?

There's is always a need to play. I fully intend to be 3 steps ahead.

ummm thats exactly the point of knowing the skills..so you can make ur soldier awsome. Who thinks to them selves "im not going to read any of the skills and im just going to place points or w/e randomly so my guy sux!"

i'm pretty sure there was a topic where this was discussed, and i made clear, and possible convinced some people, that it'd make the actual release of the game a bit less fun, wich is why i prefer them not releasing one

For those whom it would "ruin the experience" then don't look

simple.

I have no such delusions that it would change or affect it's release for myself, and as such would welcome anything and everything pre-launch.

I understand how it could make it less fun, but what if they only did a character creator with few basic options. Then again that might be pointless to release somethin that has so little. I think I would like to pick up Brink and spend a good hour or two messing around customizing my character rather then before.

maybe I am :whistling:

I just don't get into the who;e "surprises" thing... I don't get it.

I'd rather have something sooner then later.... so yes, I'd like a character creator, or ability list, or... anything they feel like giving us.

I don't see the point in waiting. I see no benefit. There is no "magic moment". Putting the game disc in for the first time isn't some kinda revered experience or anything.

Personally, I'd like to know already how I want my guy to look and the abilities I want so that I can set my guy up and get to playing....

it's not like I still won't spend countless hours in customization post-launch either... but I'd like to get straight to the game right away, without looking like a short bus candidate, or taking junk abilities for lack of knowledge

I wouldn't mind a little Character Creator demo but what I really want to try out is the S.M.A.R.T. system. I'd love if they took the untextured basic map they demo in their "The Dawn of SMART" dev diary (about 2:44) and gave it to us to try running around. Purhaps some online connection so we can run with our friends. Hell, throw a gun or two in there and I'd be happy till release, even if it needed another six months to finish. I'd still get it for the maps, campaign, and the full multiplayer experience of course, I'm just too excited for SMART to wait. *explodes*

A character creator would be great, but like everybody else here, I'd like it if they released anything that's playable.

I'd like it if they would release something playable. Like the entire game.
