Character idea; need mod recommendations

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 12:46 am

I am going to start a new Fallout 3 playthrough. I will be playing a sociopath that is very independent. However, I want the world to look a certain way and I am

having trouble finding the right mod combinations. I am going for a very dark and eerie look. I want to feel like I am in a radiated wasteland. One that is

unforgiving. Something that is sunny most of the time does not give me what I want. Any ideas that would give the look I am looking for? Also, I do not want

to use any ENB's that are very performance hitting, or at all if I can help it. Thanks.

Only two mods I can think of are http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/13275/? and http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20089/?

Perhaps one of http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6550/?.

is this mod safe? I must admit that whenever I read stuff like "use this mod at your risk" etc etc, it leaves me with an unpleasant sensation, like I could witness bloat, and basically waste time playing a game that sooner or later will be doomed. May you assure me about the quality of this mod? Will I experience bloat issues, or whatever?
Thanks for help

Yes, I think it's completely safe, although I haven't used them so much myself (it looks cool but too samey for me). Can't really think of any reason they would cause bloat or anything like that.

I have looked around and tried many different weather/lighting mods, but none of them have really wowed me. The ones I do really like are just a little bit too much for my system to handle. So I think I am going to stick with Fellout because it's the best alternative outdoor lighting system to the Vanilla game in my opinion that has no performance hit.

But Fellout doesn't go for a "very dark and eerie world", which was what you was looking for. If anything, it makes the world look more normal and less eerie. Oh well.

I know. :\ I find it does though give the world a more barren feel. Maybe I will make my own lighting mod.

I'm not much for Fellout as I prefer the vanilla tint, but other than that I agree with you about weather mods - I've tried several and actually prefer vanilla. Oddly enough, I don't like ENB for F3 either although I'm a huge fan of it for Skyrim.

I'll have to take that back. Dynamic Weather is really good and also completely configurable. You might want to try the Polluted preset, which makes for a foreboding and eerie atmosphere. Also, you can control how often it rains and/or are sandstorms.
