Character Ideas For Roleplaying (Definitive)

Post » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:10 am

I know there's been a few threads on this topic, but there hasnt been any definitive threads on people listing/elaborating on character ideas to roleplay with. What I mean is, I figured this could be THE thread people can come to when they're stumped on what character to play next, and want some meaning and personality added to their play. I'm also currently stumped on a new character to play, so I was hoping you guys could list some good character ideas including - character personality, their alignment, their overall purpose/driving force, what weapons/armor they prefer to use, and any other tidbits, interesting details you can think of adding. Thank you in advance for all the help that will come out of this thread!

An Idea I always had was this....

Basically A travelling Merchant(Barter,Speech,Some weopon skill) That travels between settlements selling basic items(food,Parts, ect, ect) to the settlements. He favors Lightweight armor(Wastland settler/Traveler) and tries to be Indifferent to people,Beyond Buisness. To Him(or Her) its all about the Caps. First thing you should do is get a house. Since tenpenny towers is for the "elite" It would fit the role of a rich merchant well, but Megaton would be a good stop for any traveling merchant. Again,up to you. You could also Find an Abondened house and just have that as your house. (but im not sure if items you set down in it will dissapear after awhile)

Another Fun character to play is a "Marksman" type character. the current one im playing has very low Charisma and Strength, but maxed agility, and 7 in Perception and intelligence. Basically, hes a wasteland Wanderer(So neutral Karma, or evil) with some skill at Rifles(Small Guns) , using the enviroment to his advantage(Sneak) and since hes away from civilization for extended periods of time, has to be able to take care of his stuff(Repair). First off, get a sniper rifle and a hunting rifle. After that, get a weaker pistol(chinese works best, you'll need the .32 slugs). Get some leather armor, Some sunglasses and a shady hat, and your ready to go.

A restriction i put on my characters is this. 1 large or medium Weopon,1 medium weopon, and 1 small weopon. Large weopons would be the fatman, missle launcher, ect. Medium would cover assult rifles, most lasers, snipers ect.... and small would be any one-handed gun. I also keep a combat Knife around(as a utility knife)

One character I have is one who during the time when his father gave him a BB Gun, took a shot against his father, who became angry at him for doing that. After that, the character never again touched a projectile weapon. He was very disappointed when his childhood friend gave him a gun to fight with. He never forgives her for that. The character has since then developed a special kind of anger against anyone who carries a projectile weapon, so, his way of fighting is with hand or weapon at melee range (if he really must, the guys with guns can piss him off so he must defend himself).

:) fun to play with!

My guy is a good guy  but has made himself judge, jury and executioner. :gun: he tries to do every thing the peaceful way but when forced he will use... alternatives. :toughninja: just get the law bringer perk. good or neutral karma have merc charmer outfit and the raider mask ( the one that looks like a welding mask)
I find it fun playing like that. :dancing:

i play a bit of both combat/stealth character, good karma usually get lawbringer perk.
i start off the game evil so i can hire jericho and clover..but i ditch jericho after i'm leveled up and switch over to good karma..i can rehire clover with good karma any time..followers are nice to have espeically early on.
i never kill people in towns or merchants they are too valuable to me for their resources like ammo, armor, med supplies etc.
i defuse the bomb usually at the beginning of the game...ealry on i use 10 mm, hunting rifle, laser pistol, lead pipe, shotgun etc..but once i finish the waters of life quest and energy weapons/ammo are abundant this is what i use. :jammasterjay:

plasma rifle
reservist .308 sniper rifle
combat shotgun
lincolns repeater(although the backwater rifle seems promising also)
blackhawk .44 cal pistol
dart gun
gauss rifle
plasma pistol
i think thats it for guns...i don't use a lot of heavy weapons..but i do use a fatman or missle launcher on occassion mostly just for fun since the ammo etc seems to add up over time...those weapons load slow and makes it hard to really rely on them except at longer ranges..i also carry some bottlecap or plasma mines..and some plasma or nuka grenades. :flamethrower:

one last thing...i use moatly light armor..recon/chinese stealth suit/combat armor etc..but sometimes will go with heavy armor for fun...usually winterized T51B or outcast armor....it looks cool and works good.

Please no RP within this game, RP servers killed Warcraft. I tried my best to hang around on one of those types of servers, I just couldn't get into it at all. The only thing that made the server easy to deal with, was when Horde would raid Goldshire; talk about putting a damper on peoples Role Playing. Nothing personal, but if some player in Fallout walked up to me, and started spouting off anything RP I would turn their character over to Paradise Falls.

I know there's been a few threads on this topic, but there hasnt been any definitive threads on people listing/elaborating on character ideas to roleplay with. Regulator Spec Ops is kinda interesting.

You find a place with alot of criminals (Paradise Falls) and sneak your way in. Once your in you kill the boss and find a way out.

My main character is a member of the Brotherhood. I know everyone pretty much is, but I like to accentuate it by using the Citadel as my main home, and using signature Brotherhood weapons like the super-sledge and gatling-laser. I travel with Star Paladin Cross, and together we bring justice to the wasteland. We're kinda like a independent team that furthers the Brotherhoods goals outside in the field while the rest of them just sit inside their fortress. I exclusively used un-armed, melee weapons and big guns, and sport the 51-b power armour set.
