My Bosmer Hunter is currently level 14, and I plan to stop at level 30. I have never raised my endurance, and I never will. I also don't wear any armor, and I play on 75% difficulty. I wanted to make the game harder, thus more exciting as far as I'm concerned, and Acadian has helped me out with a lot of great info in this regard. Now I could use a little more help...
I have done very, very little of the game's content on purpose. My plan was to get to level 30 before I really start into the game's content. My hope is that I'd get a little, or hopefully sometimes a lot, more out of the game this way. According to Acadian's list I would certainly find better gear and go up against tougher creatures. Both pluses in my book. Is there any other reason to do what I'm doing, and is there any reason to ditch what I'm doing and level up more naturally? I'm just looking to get as much out of the game with one character as possible.
On your first point, 30 is a great level to cap at.
Just some thoughts too consider on delaying your questing:
- Tougher creatures is relative. That wolf is just as dangerous to a level 2 character as a brown bear is to a level 18 character.
- If you are delaying things for loot, consider what you get. What kind of gear does your character want? Do you really care about getting the top-leveled warhammer of doom and staff of magical kickbuttness? I would recommend you consider precisely what leveled items your character wants, and consider delaying those quests. For my character, the answer was that there was no leveled quest reward in the whole game she was interested in. In fact, the only magical item she carries that she did not enchant herself is Azura's Star.
- My character loves exploring, mapping things out, traveling on her horse to visit friends, clearing random dungeons. She happily could do that (and has) for hundreds of hours. If that is not your goblet of Tamika's however, then leveling without quests my be boring. My character has done less than 15% of the quests in the game, but that suits her natural playstyle. She has never avoided a quest due to level considerations.
- One thing I like to do is level slowly (about 20 hours of play per level). One benefit (of many) to this is that I find is the world changes more slowly and it feels more gradual. As those wovlves grow into brown bears and bandits begin sporting fancier armor and weaponry, the slow pace makes it seem more natural and less jarring.
