does anybody else think they should allow you to randomize a character name on character creation? like a name generator?

Yep, and there most likely will be.

Suppose it'd be a good idea, honestly, I'm not sure why more MMO's don't actually implement this idea. I've seen it done in so few, and really it helps. Well, provided they can keep from it randomizing the same name.

Would definitely be helpful to people who can't think of any names, or want a "Lore Friendly" name.

Either or, won't bother me too much, but it's a good idea nonetheless.

id like to have a lore friendly name. nobody is worse than me at making a character name. if i have to come up with one i would have no choice but to come up with a tacky name. thats all i can think of lol

My main problem is that when I come up with a really good character name that I like, I find out it already belongs to an NPC or is otherwise already in use.

One way to get yourself a surname is to look at the names of towns in previous ES games and use one of those. If your character, like mine, is from an area covered by the game Daggerfall then you have hundreds to choose from. Look over at uesp for lists of them. My surname will be a small town in Sentinel that l rather liked in Daggerfall and so took as my home town and my surname.

From what I have seen in the dev's footage. there will be surnames. Their characters had it, but it might have been an dev thing only. Random name generators are plenty to be found on the internet.

The FAQ indicates that Surnames are possible

So first name last name as long as it is unique will be fine
