Character Updates #18

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 8:04 pm

Last night I played through one of my favorite quest mods, Elfenwacht (English version). This is not a level one fight, that's why I like it so much.

My new character Mikaere and his two companions Vilja and Kaleah the Succubus were attacked by an Orc just outside of the Sideways Cave. Reading the note found on the Orc we entered the cave to lend aid to the beleaguered elves inside. Instead of being welcomed we were viciously attacked. In the end we prevailed and were rewarded with a nice cache of armor and weapons.

It's unfortunate that my new install is not performing well and I'm thinking of re-installing. Somehow I got the caves too dark and am unable to lighten them to my satisfaction. Can't see a thing, I like caves darker than vanilla but solid black is way too much. On the plus side I'll get to do Elfenwacht over again.

Prisoner has reached the level where Will-O-Wisps appear; lvl13. As a result, he has found a number of dead legionnaires on the roads and fought some very close calls. Also the large brown bears have appeared and if it were not for support from Ramy and Villja he would have surely died. He is about halfway to building up his savings to fulfill his current dream to buy Benirus Manor and renovate it to provide a real home for his family.

He spends a lot of time on the road. With my current high graphics card, I can max out the scenery making the forest incredibly lush. I've always favored the vanilla scenery over the mods I've tried and once it is extended out using the .ini file it can be breathtaking..

When Prisoner encounters a dead legionnaire he repairs the armor and returns it to the body. This armor will be recovered by the legionnaire's replacement. In older play-throughs, I have seen legionnaires with only half armor which was caused by me looting and selling armor from dead patrols.

VILJA HAS KILLED A LEGIONNAIRE. Somehow he got mad at her while we were all fighting a brown bear. Prisoner tried to calm them but there was no stopping them. I don't know what will happen now but we have passed another patrol and he didn't react. Maybe she will get away with it this time. He really didn't leave her any choice.

bobg: My characters no longer help Legionnaires in trouble. One once accidentally hit a soldier during a fight and got arrested, so now days they just stand around and cheer for the bad guy. They get to collect a lot of armor that way.

Prisoner and Vilja are both safe. Companions are immune from the law and can kill at will with no consequence. My character's favorite tact is to openly pickpocket whomever they want to eliminate and when they go agro, their companions take care of things for them. Occasionally my character gets a little bounty if they hit someone with their fist instead, but that has it's own rewards. :D

Good to know but Prisoner just doesn't think that way. He is too much of a coward to do anything illegal. His involvement with the bear started as simply trying to protect his horse and Vilja as usual jumped in. Prisoner is unlike any previous character I have played. I don't know where his destiny lies which makes him interesting indeed. His only motivation seems to be wanting to provide for his little family. Who knows where it will lead in time.

Prisoner has now purchased and renovated Benirus Manor. He installed his little family and spent several days waiting for the rain to stop (and the roads to reset) before venturing out and about once more. He has a very nice bedroll he purchased from Jensine's which he laid out in the bedroom allowing Vilja and Ramy to share the one double bed.

His goal now is to magically enhance the equipment they are using which requires lots of grand soul gems. The only way to do that is to soul trap extreme creatures (not likely), explore dungeons (even less likely) or loot lots of bandits to buy soul gems; preferably after the patrols have done the dirty work. He is, after all, still quite cowardly.

Ah! Nice to know the Manor got a new owner :)

As stated before, Lothran gave the deed and key to Anvil County and anyone could come and claim it. I′m sure Ramy will be having tons of fun running around that big house

Nice place but I felt the purchase price was too high considering the undisclosed vermin infestation. Once the vermin was exorcised the rest of the rehab went fairly smoothly.
