characters builds

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:14 pm

Yeah, I'm going to work under the assumption that there are at least 2 increases to each SPECIAL (like a bobblehead + implants or other Intense Training replacement)

If that's the case, my build will probably start out like this:

S 8

P 3

E 7

C 1

I 7

A 1

L 1

I would have high intelligence for the skill points and high luck for the crits.

Fallout 4 doesn't have skills. Instead, higher Intelligence is apparently going to increase the amount of xp you get.

Well, I'll just split it in between agility and endurance then.

Could you get 7 implants in previous games? I9 might be what allows you to get the implants in the game.

Anyway, I'm wondering what's the logic behind that build.

I understand S8 and E7 together, but I don't see how I7 goes with that.

Are you trying to make a Cyborg Melee character?

If high Intelligence doesn't affect skills in F4 (because skills as we knew them don't exist) but merely how much / fast you gain XP it could very well be a dump or minimum stat for me in this game. I always feel that the leveling is too fast as it is and perks/stats/traits that increase XP gain are always pointless for me - having a stat that directly affects it in F4 will be one I avoid if that is how it works. In that case it will be interesting to see if they do a low-INT conversations "penalty" path for some interactions.

Bingo. Yup, melee Cyborg. Hopefully, Cyborg may actually grant some bonus to either strength or endurance, so I can spread out the points a little more.

EDIT: That's if Cyborg actually exists on the tree at all. Ive been told that most of that tree may not actually be there.

There was an article recently where a Beth dev confirmed that if your really wanted to you could get every perk and every level to each said perk on one character? Something like 275 perks. So I mean there must be a way to increase your special stats.

So far, I've come up with:

S: 1
P: 2
E: 1
C: 1
I: 8
A: 8
L: 7

A sneak centric build that uses VATS, using energy weapons and doing devastating criticals. Later I will up AGL, INT, and LCK for Cyborg, Finesse, Stealth (whatever the hell that is, but I assume it should be good with that high requirement), and Grim Reaper's Sprint.

May change if PER ends up getting some good perks, but so far from speculation, very few are appealing. svcks I have to invest so heavily in Luck just to get only two perks that fit my build while the rest are silly perks like Bloody Mess, Mysterious Stranger (why this is still a perk is beyond me), and Fortune Finder that I will never use. I suppose more crits from the high Luck is always good.

My starting SPECIAL will be 1/8/5/3/3/6/2. This will allow me to build a high powered sniper rifle and craft my own explosives. I can find all sorts of useful items in containers, can take Dogmeat as my wingman, as well as a female human companion so I have someone to talk to as I explore the wastes. I will be able to sneak around and use night vision, access hard to reach areas with the help of some of the new Agility perks, and explore underwater. As time goes on, I will look to increase my Strength so that I can take Strong Back, and may also build a settlement or two. I cannot wait for this game to release in November, because no matter how we wish to play, there will literally be a perfect build for everyone.

Don't think Lenore would be too happy with that, Liam

My 3rd eye tells me that the wife (or husband) can later become a companion. :fallout:

I'm thinking of just going max strength and endurance and either putting the rest into intelligence or splitting it between perception and intelligence once all the special raising things are discovered.

My build will be a combat medic type so my main stats will be intelligence (obviously), endurance, and agility. Maybe bump up my perception and luck later on.

Since Strength doesn't do anything other than carrying weight and melee damage, I am not going to invest in it much. I always go more towards a smart charismatic pragmatist. Plus, Intelligence and Charisma affect a good amount of the settlement building stuff, which is one of the main draws for me to this game.

I'm likely going to make sure intelligence is at 10 to maximize XP and as for the rest....I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. If intense training in in and can be taken many times I'll likely put several points to that since there is no level cap and with a high intelligence I'll level faster plus if it's like Fallout 3 and New Vegas I can put it on very easy to bring down enemy health and then put it on very hard for the kill to really maximize XP. I had my fingers crossed for Cyborg helping with chance to hit in VATS, but it probably won't be that practical. They aren't going to let you take a perk at I9 that makes up for you not investing points into other attributes. If anything it would be just like Nerd Rage! where it's just a bandaid compared to actually investing in Endurance and Strength.

I'm looking at I9 and I10 for roleplaying purposes essentially, but I definitely would look at other attributes for a more direct impact on combat, especially luck.

Most of them are probably right. Some of them are essentially confirmed because the evidence is fairly clear.

There is my close range Arnold with a shotgun kind of build.

1 STR - increase later on for Strong Back Perk

7 PER - to get Intel (unlock safes), blow [censored] up and see in the dark

5 END - for Submariner. Hoping to find some underwater content.

7 CHA - to lie, cheat, and manipulate my way to success

3 INT - to tinker with my gun.

2 AGI - Commando (not sure if Gymnast really worth it)

2 LUK - Scrounger

Primary focus Shotguns, Explosives, Lies and Medium/Heavy armor.

That's why I'm not looking at perk lists. Nope. Not gonna do it.

That first run is going to be blind blind, yo.

Me too. The only thing I might do which is thought out a bit is put intelligence at 10 to maximize XP gains. After that I'm just going to "wing it" and take what I feel I'll like or whatever suits my play style.

maxing out my INT just never really sat with me. 6 or 7, maybe. I like moderate builds that reflect a persona. An INT of 10 is like saying "I am Stephen Hawkings incarnate" when in reality my first character is aimed at being kind of a loveable dork.

"So that's what that buttons does..."

I usually do that as well. For my first play through though I kinda want to maximize XP gains to see how fast a guy can level. I might even (if the system is the same as Fallout 3) put it on very easy to bring down health and then put it on very hard for the kill to really maximize XP and see how fast I can level. After my first play through it's 100% roleplay time!

I'll probably make a character (if it's even possible) for fun that has only 1 or 2 points in every SPECIAL stat just to roleplay your less than average person. I did the same thing in Project Zomboid only in that game it forced me to restart on death. Haha
