Characters from the past games

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 10:15 pm

First of all.
FAQ (taken from old threads like this)
Q (kinda):There's gone 200 hundred years since Oblivion!!! Are you stupid? there can't be anyone alive! Follow the info so you don't post stupid stuff like this!
A:There's gone 200 years since the Oblivion gates opened, therefor all humans would of course be dead, but Elves (like Divayth Fyr) can become over 4000 years old (thats Divayth Fyrs case but he was/is mostlikely Morrowinds most powerfull mage)...
Now we've been through the FAQ so on with the thread.

Should they show us some of our favorite characters from past games? I'm personally hoping for Helseth Hlaalu and his mother, but I guess everyone has their own TES hero('s)...
please don't post NO!!!! or NO! or No. or stuff like that as it adds as little to the discussion as just saying YES! atleast post why it wouldn't work out or why it shouldn't be there, I by the way have one important example of why it might become bad:
Everyone who have played Daggerfall and then played Oblivion must have realized how they butchered the King of Worms, they not just butchered him but they cut his brain out and put it into an ugly, unfit, and powerless body... they didn't even add those half-naked followers of his, I personally would have prefered them to not add him as soon as they realized they couldn't make the red-roped, shadowy figure with shining eyes with justice in Oblivion, and if this is the case then I don't want it for Skyrim. But if they can add an old figure, if they can do the figure justice, and if they have a lore-based reason for him/her to be in Skyrim then I'd love to see some of our old favorites...

So to put it short: Would you like characters from the past games? What is requirred for you to want them? And if you want 'em at all, who do you want to see?

Plus (according to my knowledge) the lifetime of Khajits have never been mentioned...

I hope Barenziah is still alive, but I doubt it. She probably died along with Helseth when the Argonians invaded. There are plenty of items in the game that lengthen lives, along with the fact that elves can live for hundreds of years.

It may be shorter than the average mer, as when orcs were transformed they lost some of their lifespan so khajits may do so as well, but you're correct - it hasn't actually been mentioned. I don't think it matters anyway - he's an easter egg not a major plot character so he can stay in the games without any lore complications. If he appears, he may even comment on how it could be.

I hope Helseth and Barenziah maneged to escape... even if they escape to the imperial city then its 100000 times better than them dying...

Barenziah is skilled at dodging danger. Would be nice to see her in Skyrim at least.

I really, really want to see Divayth Fyr in this game.

That'd be about it though. The elves are pretty much the only ones who live long enough that any of the past characters might be left anyway (and not even all of them, if I remember correctly - I don't have the patience to go sorting through lore right now, but am I right in the vague memory that Bosmer, for instance, don't live as long as, say, Altmer?) I guess it'd be kind of cool to see Falanu Hlaalu, driven out of yet another place for her... habits, and now settled in Skyrim. Or maybe some relatively unimportant but entertaining character who just appears in the background somewhere - Undena Orethi still searching for the perfect tomato, for instance. But aside from M'aiq, who exists outside of time and thus can and almost certainly will be there, the only past character I can think of that I absolutely and unquestionably want to see is Divayth Fyr.

Seconded for Divayth Fyr. You know he left morrowind before the end times. Makes sense he would in up in skyrim with other dunmer.

Actually it doesn't... :nope: Fyr didn't like other Dunmer... Un-interesting... he had his pets and his art collection... and wifes/clones...
wish it would though...¨
And here's a char I'll cry without G U A R ! ! !

+1 to this.

And on the topic of Divayth Fyr, I agree that it would be kind of neat to see him again, but I'm not really sure what he would be doing in Skyrim. Yes, most of the displaced dunmer from Morrowind went to Skyrim, but as someone else said, he hated other dunmer. Didn't really seem to care for anyone other than his clone/wives and of course his collections and pets for that matter. That, coupled with the fact that he is an extremely powerful mage and could most likely go just about anywhere he wanted, I just don't see why he would be in Skyrim. He could be there, I'm just not sure why he would be. Just my thoughts on it.

I wouldn't bat an eye to Mudcrab Merchant or M'aiq. Both would be believable

Given that Divayth Fyr was already 4000 years old in Morrowind, another 200 wouldn't be a stretch would it?

It'd be cool to see him living in quiet retirement in a Home for Retired Dunmer

Dyviath Fyr as a possible cameo. Perhaps he's interested in the dwemer ruins to the west or something. I can't see Barenziah, as she was very old for a noble already. Helseth is likely to still be alive, if he wasn't killed during the Red Year, the argonian invasion, or assassination attempts.

But in reality, I'd rather the game made new likeable characters.

Although the idea sounds kind of cool I really don't want to see any characters from previous games in Skyrim. Why? Thinking about it just gives me terrible flashbacks to the Star Wars Prequels with R2 and C3-PO in it. WHY GEORGE WHY!!!!! :shakehead:

The 9 Divine.
I liked how avatars of the 9 popped up here and there. Wulf will always be my favorite. A tired old soldier, giving hints of things to come, placing his hope on the new generation...however, I don't think Zenithar will like me much. My nerevarine kind of....well...accidentally killed his avatar.

They'd have to be from Morrowind, Oblivion featured Mortals.
