I'm hoping this means you can use charisma to get out of fights in ways that do not require the intimidation perk, although they could be just talking about speech checks

I'm still going to start with a 1 in Charisma and then build it up over the length of the game. My guns do all the talking.
That used to be my approach too, until I found out how much content I was missing out on, then I started talking more myself =)
Except for Slavers Paradise. They always died brutally with no questions asked, before or after.

Is all addiction covered by Charisma? That makes no sense. You'd think addiction would be governed by Endurance.
I think they are talking about the party-boy perk that is under charisma, rather than charisma by itself. It looks like there is also a chem-resistant perk under endurance (bunch of syringes bouncing off the VB)

I'm not too worried about missing out on things. I was probably 50/50 at Paradise Falls. Sometimes shoot them on sight, and a few times I actually helped them. I'm hoping slavery makes a return in Fallout 4.
Actually, addiction can be either physiological or psychological. Endurance is only for physiological addiction. Psychological addiction is much more common and is usuall ignored in games, so it makes much more sense for Charisma to govern psychological addiction (i.e., habits of various kinds).
